Do You Like/Dislike "Pocahontas"?

I always loved Pocahontas, and consider it to be one of my favorites. When I was younger, I even had a Pocahontas lunchbox and a poster for my room.

I think since it was up against Disney's earlier masterpieces, such as The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast, it wasn't up to par for some.

why is my most fav animated movie destined for mistreatment for the rest of her life???? its april and still NO official website...NO trailer on major animation dvds and NADA! what is this? what r u trying to prove disney!?!?!?!? even mulan had an official website and it was a re-release too! what the hell is this?? why didnt u just make an all lion, animal version of pocahontas if u think it sucked enough!!??

why disney why???

Okay, I remember that when I went to Disney World when I was 7, the movie was premiering in theaters, and of course I went to see it. I even bought an accesory/costume set of John Smith!!! I really liked it because it came with his vest, a compass, a knife, and maybe some other stuff.

I haven't seen that movie in a long time, and I'm dying for May to come to get the two-disc set, but I remember that I really liked it. When I think of it, I think of it as one great Disney movie even though it's not my favorite.

With the memories I have, I really appreaciate the story because of how Pocahontas isn't racist and becomes friends with John Smith; the whole 'peace' theme is very cool to me. I don't remember much, but I really liked the scene where she jumps in front of John so he doesn't get killed (aww)...

I remeber I had, maybe still have, a cd-rom of The Lion King and one of Pocahontas and I enjoyed the Pocahontas one more. I just like the characters much more, and I really hate the villain, which makes the movie very enjoyable, too.

I loved it!

But the sad thing is: I just found out a few weeks ago that Mel Gibson was the voice of John Smith. That's suprises me because usually I am pretty good and realizing celebrity voices.

i love pocahontas ! it is my top 3 favorite just after Beauty and the Beast ,and Peter Pan
the chinese version Pocahontas was voiced by my favorite singer in taiwan,so i even love it more!

Absolutely loved "Colors of the Wind" and Meeko... other than that I hated it. Lucky thing we got to see it in theaters for free. I only saw it when it initially came out so it's been a while for me.

I thought it was a bit boring and I hated that it had an unhappy ending. I just don't think the storyline was a good choice for Disney. I figure, if they can butcher the real storyline, add 10 years to Pocahontas, shave 10 years off John Smith, etc, then why not change the ending?

Eh, I'll probably buy it anyway- if anything for the songs!!

Also, so I can make an opinion now that I'm 10 years older and 10 years wiser

I love Pocahontas. It is probably in my top 5 favorite Disney flicks. Things about the film that appeal to me:

- Menkin's soundtrack. Not just the main theme songs but the great breakground music as well.
- Love story between Smith and Pocahontas is very romantic. I almost always tear up at the end when they have to be parted. Sigh.
- Pochontas as earth girl with long beautiful hair. I just find her to be a overall beautiful Disney character.
- The artwork is really unique!

I haven't even seen it yet, although I've heard some of the beautiful music in it. I must rent it!

I'm not really into the "newer" Disney, and so I've not seen many of the "newer" ones, ie Pocohontas (not so new), Hunchback of Notre Dame (not so new either, but you get my point...), Atlantis, etc. I really need to rent them.

I think maybe your avatar isn't showing because perhaps they moved it in the gallery or something?

Pay a visit to Blockbuster! You're missing out on some unique Disney features! Hunchback is by far the darkest of them all, Pocahontas is very romantic, only grown up style and Atlantis is unique to the traditional animation world (the only action one). Keep in mind they're very different and you'll enjoy them, no doubt!

well,for me it´s not the best movie ever made, but also it´s not the worse.

It have it charm and it magic,but I don´t really think that can be compared to another disney works as the Lion King and BatB.

by the way, maybe I´m not a USA guy and I don´t know much about your history, but wasn´t supose than Pocahontas was just a twelve-years-old girl?

Is there ANY movie that is actually based totally on the history w/o some "bending of the facts", unless it's a documentary?

Sound of Music was way off the true story, but yet a classic movie.

I was pretty sure though that Pocohontas did NOT save him from being beheaded...

Yeah, Pocahontas was only, like, 11 to 13 years old when she met John Smith, and he was around 30.

But, historically accurate or not, I still think it's a good movie, although definitely not as good as the 4 that came before it.

I love it...I always have. When it first came out, I was absolutely nuts over it. I'm pretty sure I was in 5th grade... It was the only other movie besides The Little Mermaid that I was pretty much obsessed over as a kid....I mean I had liked Aladdin and the Lion King somewhat, but I didn't love them, and I never really liked Beauty and the Beast when I was a kid (the beast scared me).... But back to Pocahontas, I had all the dolls, as well as a lot of other merchandise, and I was constantly singing the songs from the movie.

I too wish the "official website" for the dvd would come soon....

I Liked It

Not My Favorite Disney Film But Its In The Top

It had great chracters
music
an animation

It also had a good message in the movie

It shuld have gotten better reviews
