It'd still make a pretty good movie though. Maybe if the story ran something like this...
It's modern day and most of the fairies have past away by now and the population is dwindling. The last few faries left are inside a huge park in the middle of a major city, maybe central park in manhatten? anywho, it's up to one of the faires or a small group of them to explore past the boundaries of the park and through the city to find a new forrest of some kind to house a new population of faries, or just to move all the other fairies out of the hustle and bustle of NYC. I could see this being a comedy if anything, but i guess it could work as a musical.
The creator (don't remember his name) said that if they get a good offer in by a quality movie company (like Disney), they will surely approve a movie of itsealightbreeze wrote:Zelda would make a great movie, but there is a lot of copyrights in that. How about a fairy movie? not about tinkerbell, but just about fairies or something like that?

We don't; and neither does Disney. " Mickey's Christmas Carol " came out in 1983.

I'm prepping for a children's literature class this fall, so I decided to head down to my local Library to pick up some of the latest Newberry Award winners (the Oscars of kid lit). I wasn't able to pick up this year's winner, Kira-Kira, but I did manage to find a copy of last year's winner, The Tale of Despereux. I started reading the book when I got home, and finished it in the evening. It was really great - a fairy tale! It's pretty unconventional, something along the lines of fairy tale revisionism, but I think it could still work as a 2D animated Disney film.
In short, it's the story of a mouse, a princess, a serving girl, some soup, and a spool of thread!
