Pirates of the Caribbean: 2 or 3 disks?

Post by Disney-Fan »

Now, I am once again in a dilemma as to which version to buy. As much as I love Pirates of the Caribbean, I'm not a total freak of the movie. A 3 disker is soon being released at Amazon, so I was thinking of buying it. On the other hand, there are many movies I haven't purchased yet and I want to save my money for other ones by buying the 2 disker. If I am to buy the 2 disker I'd be saving money (I will be saving a LOT. The extra money for the new disk, shipping fees etc...).

Would you recommend the 3rd disk, even if I'm not a total freak of the movie? I have read Luke's (wonderful) review of the Lost Disk, and he recommends a purchase if you haven't bought the previous edition. But what I want to know, is what you think I should do considering my position and the fact that I'm not that big a fan of PotC.

So... What do you think? :)

P.S. Even though I'll be purchasing the UK edition, I've placed this topic here because I want the opinions of R1 owners of the movie (since owners of R2 cannot properly comment on the bonus features yet).

If you're not a huge fan, I say go for the 2 disk set. It still has many extras which will keep you satisfied. As much as I love the movie, you do get tired of the extras, and probably won't watch them too often. I would use the extra money to buy other DVD's which will have a higher replay value.

In the US, the 2-disc was recently reduced in price and the 3-disc has been discontinued. That should make the decision easier for you. If you simply want some extras at a reasonable price and little hassle, go for the totally solid Collector's Edition and enjoy it. If you're even more of a 'collector' and want even more extras, track down the 3-disc before it gets even tougher to find. If you change your mind and decide the Lost Disc isn't worth it, I'm sure someone would be willing to take it off your hands for the amount more you paid for it.

Yea, what they said. :p
We have the "lost disc" and liked it...because R of RJKD23 really enjoys PoTC! :)
So if you're a hard core fan, get it the 3-Disc.
If not, get the 2-Disc. Either way, just make sure you get Pirates! 8)

Personaly, I'm obsessed with this movie, and I bought it the day it came out, and then again to get the third disk. If you are as obsessed as I am, the third disk is very much worth it! :D
