Isidour wrote: Very good question indeed:

1.-Both are Prince of a kingdom
2.-In the movie, both are watched just for one of their parents--lets accept it, Mufassa was the one who we can see takes more care than Sarabi--
3.-Both have a little girlfriend who later will become his wife
4.-both have a Bird companion, who gives them advices
5.-Their parent dies.
6.-Both have a little time for get over his parent death--Bambi just had a few seconds before leaving with the Great Prince and Simba too before running from hyenas--
7.-both run for save their lives.
8.-both have 2 friends, and one is the funny and the other the stinky one
--let´s accept it,Flower not always smell like one--
9.-both see again to his girlfriend after a long time.
10.-Both fights against an equal for his true position--I mean, deer vs deer and Lion vs Lion--
11.-A kingdom destroyed than later recovers its beauty
12.-when the prince born, everybody go to see him
13.-Both have a great music
14.-both have sons at the end
15.-both take their right place in their lives at the end
16.-both figths also against the servants of the bad guy--hyenas or dogs--
17.-both see their reflex on the water--in a different meaning, but both important parts of the story--

and finally:
18.-eventually, both will have a sequel

I think it´s all, I hope than that have cleared your doubts n_n
Now with all of these similarities tell me how Lion King cannot be a rip-off from Bambi.
Because how can two movies from the same studio be a rip-off? A remake in my opinion is a better word(even though it really isn't since there is too many differences).

Alright Lion King is a "remake" of Bambi. Actually a better word would be inspired. Whatever I don't think anyone really cares.

"Remake" would be better even though is not. At least I got someone who agrees with me...

I don't think Bambi is a rip off because like Timon/Pumba Fan stated they are both a Disney animation. Ripping off would be Dreamworks remaking Bambi or something like that. And as for Bambi being a remake of Lion King I don't really agree with that either because they are both very different movies. Saying Lion King is like Bambi is like saying that Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast are all the same because they all involve a princess and the Prince and Princess end up together at the end.

In fact, if you watch all the 2nd DVD from Bambi, I don´t remember where, but they refeer to the Lion King as "Bambi on te jungle with Shakespeare"

I don´t say than Lion King is a ripp-of,In fact I like Bambi and the Lion King, but if the animators itself refeer to the Lion King this way I think they are making more like a homenage to Bambi.A remarke, or we cold say like the Bambi fr the kids of today
but anyway
I´LL ALWAYS PREFER BAMBI OVER TH LION KING!!!!!

Everyone has their own opinion. You may think Lion King is the same as Bambi but that doesn't mean that I have to think that

Lion King is not a Bambi rip-off despite all the similarities! It has a villian, a dark side (something Bambi lacks most of the time), and it also uses Shakespear as inspiration for a story. Bambi does not do that.

I actually think Bambi is even darker than The Lion King. You don't see "man" in Bambi, but you get a very strong feeling of their presence at the moment they're there (good they didn't follow Walt Disney on that one!). In The Lion King all dark sides are overshadowed by funny moments after that... Don't get me wrong, Lion king is my favorite Disney animated movie of them all, but I don't think it's darker than Bambi ;)

I was looking at the aspect from a villian's point of view. Don't get me wrong, man killing your favourite dear is indeed dark, but in my opinion, he can never be truely seen as a villian because he's like you. In The Lion King, you can see dark elements such as hate and jealousy overtaking someone leading him to murder and lie to his own family. I always found that to be quite dark. Sure, there's comic relief but for me it doesn't take away from all the cruel elements of the film. That's my view of it. :)

For me it´s darker the Bambi´s villian.
You see, you know who it´s the villian but not quite to say"he is the one" maybe the message it´s than anyone could be the killer.
Not only a hunter but any person who hurts a little child, anyone who decieve him,who makes him fear, who takes away his inocence.
on the Lion King you see Scar and you say "he is the bad one,he must pay" but in Bambi the villian is no moe than the man,who with his actions may hurt someone else evenwithout knowing.
To make us think,to make us reconsider many actions we make just for our own benefit.

For me,Lion King it´s about growing but Bambi it´s about reflection and how the life it´s just beautyfull

So The Lion King ripped off Bambi, Kimba, Hamlet, Moses, and Joseph (and maybe even more; there is also stuff stolen or borrowed from Born Free [a lioness chasing a warthog but never actually catching it], Harold and Maude [Maude says something about 'The Great Circle of Life' and even says it with all the same inflections Mufasa does], etc.) and still managed to be its own entirely unique movie. Sounds fine to me. When people say TLK ripped off Bambi they crack me up because they act like they're pointing out something that Disney is ashamed to admit but Disney (whatever that means) comes right out and openly admits that TLK was inspired by Bambi as well as other movies and stories.

well, when I said "the lion king´s score is Disney´s best" I wasn´t talking about songs, I actually said that Menken songs for other movies are way better than these.

Original Score is just background music, the partiture, no songs!!!!

Lion King is definitly one of my favorites. Some ideas are the same as Bambi, but I wouldn't really compare the two together. Scar is definitly one of the best Disney villains. The actor, Jeremy Irons, really does his voice well.

People just have Bambi on the mind right now because of its recent DVD release.
