Other guilty pleasures that have just come to me...

DVDs that shouldn't be in my collection
I just counted, and there's a large number of films which should NOT be in excess on my DVD list. These include musicals, animation (half of my collection currently are Disney movies :P ) and culture driven films. I don't know why, but a lot of so called "lad's films" don't appeal to me. Today, I saw Resevoir Dogs on sale in Asda. It just faded into the background, films marketted at kids and women, however, did. Oh well, at least I don't own DVDs about cross dressing unicyclists.

Shrek
The amount of times the people on this board have made me feel bad for liking the Shrek movies is phenomonal. It seems as if there's at least 100 posts every day saying "Dreamworks sucked!" or "Shrek is a big pile of bunk". Get over the fact that it's fuelled by two greedy studio bosses' dislike of each other. Just watch it for entertainment.

Spending even more money...
I thought that when I could control spending. I was wrong; despite my new year's resolution being to slow down on spending, I keep going ballistic spending. :x

80s Stuff
I quite like 80s culture. Being born as that decade was about to close, it seems fascinating as most of the decade and its culture appear somewhat imortal as it came before me. Yes, messy hair, the Gummi Bears and saddest of all, Margaret Thatcher ( ) seem like beautiful ghosts of the past.

Ice Cream and Sugar in General !! :pink:
I am a sugar bug :)I don't know if I can say that :) I love everything that is sweet and cant control myself especially with Cadbury cream egg :)

Ebay
Ebay is an addiction to me in the last 2 months I bought for more than 200$ worth of books, dvd and games. Even a friend told me I almost have a subsription to it something like columbia house LOL

World of Warcraft
Playing 48 hours in 10 days letting my boyfriend do cleaning and making supper alone :)
Lilo: David, I got a new dog!
David: Huh? You sure it's a dog?
Lilo: Uh-huh. He used to be a collie before he got run over.

The taste of the juice and the blood than the stakes have gives it an unlikely taste than...oh my, I´m imagine it right now--and the sound than it makes when you just ripped out from the bone itself...
oh,yea, and Piñas coladas

I really need to update my list
Lazario wrote:7. Will & Grace
I don't consider that a guilty pleasure anymore. Unless it would be a guilty pleasure that I don't like any of the characters except for Grace.

9. Still fantasizing about my high school crushes (on real people)

10. I collect R.L. Stine Fear Street books, but I stopped after the cover designs changed too much - how much of a dork was I?

11. Watching Even Stevens on the chance Nick Spano might be shirtless during the episode

12. Knots Landing - an 80s soap opera that my mother hooked me on, soaps were actually GOOD back then, wow

13. Watching Saved by the Bell, and of course my childhood crush on Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaur)

14. Pro Wrestling - I still watch sometimes, no matter how bad it gets, because the guys are still TO DIE FOR-hott!

15. Dancing alone (because I can't dance, I don't dance in public, so I dance alone)

16. Lifetime TV movies - sometimes I just can't resist watching one of those the whole way through

17. Softcore bikini movies from the late 80s and early 90s, like Bikini Summer II or The Bikini Carwash Company. I know they're supposed to be for straight guys, but if one's on, I still watch it.

18. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - I don't watch the new MMPR shows, in fact I wouldn't watch anything after the Zeo cast started changing. But I still love to watch those CORNY shows, especially the earlier episodes with Rita Repulsa. She was so rad!

My list of guilty pleasures is a little longer than most  ...

-Amy
-Spending money (mostly on DVDs)
-Internet (message boards)
-All things Disney and taking Disney vacations
-Disney Channel (a guilty pleasure even among disney fans)
-Movies that people my age typically don't like or haven't heard of
-Both music before my time (like jazz and disco), as well as pop music today (though only some of it)... I basically am just a music lover
-Junk food (but NOT chocolate) and caffeine
-The Golden Girls
-Other "Lifetime"-like shows
-Angela Lansbury
-Musicals/showtunes
-Olsen twins movies
-Judge shows
-Political/Current Events TV shows, radio, and books
-Whoopi Goldberg
-Harry Potter
-Movie scores
-"Weird Al"
-Road to Avonlea
-Star Trek (TNG & Voyager)
-Holiday celebrations to the extreme
-Star Wars
-Nick @ Nite shows
-Child stars
-Ellen DeGeneres
-Female power singers
-Hanson

In all fairness, I wouldn't have thought of all these if not for the preceding 4 pages. I'm sure there are others that I haven't remembered.

19. VH1's Strip Search - after only a short period, that show gets so boring.

20. Weird Al Yankovic - he was cool when I was a kid and I still like him, but I'm not so keen on admitting it.

21. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - I never could stand the really unfunny "field correspondents" and stupid unserious segments. But now I think I'm starting to understand the show's approach more and their jokes are starting to get funnier.

22. The (Bill) O'Reilly Factor - I like to keep myself informed on the upper-class conservatives point of view, even though Gene Hackman's character in The Birdcage would think Bill O'Reilly too liberal (Bill O'Reilly even appeared as himself on TNT's Judging Amy). Though I don't even consider myself a true liberal, I will admit Bill O'Reilly is a jerk who could really stand a day or two as a woman or a black person or a gay person, in order to learn a little something about empathy and hardship.

I thought I posted in this. Well, since I didn't, it's time I do:

- Ryan! Image
- Shopping (for DVDs and many other things; I'll even do "window shopping!)
- Shoes & Belts... buying them, wearing them, matching outfits with them.
- Chocolate
- Winnie the Pooh
- Strawberry Milkshakes & Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshakes
- Soul Classics, and music known as "oldies"; I'm still young, but I much prefer that over the 'music' blasted on the radios these days.
- Audrey Hepburn
- Julie Andrews
- The Nanny (particularly the chemistry between Niles & Fran, and Fran & Mr. Sheffield!)
- the internet, of course.
- Digital camera-ing; meaning taking too many pictures!
- French manicures; I don't pay to get them, but I do get my nails manicured with any colored tips from a close friend of mine.
- French fries. Potato skins. Crisscut Fries. Curly Fries. (I'm a carb-hater's worst nightmare. ;))
- EBAY

and of course..
- Anything with ROMANCE in it and carrying a ROMANTIC theme to it! :D

1. Popping in my Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin DVD on a lazy afternoon, and only watching the parts with the songs, with the words showing up on screen. Then singing those songs in my head through the rest of the day, especially in the shower.

2. Looking up the lyrics of Disney songs on the Internet and memorizing them.

All of Nicholas Sparks' books

Chicken Run - a very funny movie in my opinion

Mystic Pizza - would this be a guilty pleasure?? I'm not sure
Buffy: We have a marching jazz band?
Oz: Yeah, but, you know, since the best jazz is improvisational, we'd be going off in all directions, banging into floats... scary.

* Hating veggies, even though I am a vegan. (Not so much a pleasure as it is guilty.)
* How I spend my entire afternoon and morning on the internet (the only time I'm not online is when I'm at work and when I'm watching a movie). That's around 8 hours a day.
* Talking to my cats.
* Humongous Entertainment (Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt) and Nancy Drew PC games. I used to play them as a kid and they give me a nostalgia..feeling..thing. Nancy Drew computer games are harder than you think.

Corman's Poe Cycle Movies - I have all eight and anything Corman does hold my interest.
Rudolph Ising Merry Melodies - I love all WB toons but these Disney rip-offs are a guilty pleasure. When my 3 year old asked for Mickey Mouse, I tricked him into watching a Foxy cartoon.
Jackie Chan Movies - Well, at least until The Tuxedo.
Disco - Or Any Rhino cheese collection discs.
Fish Tacos and Del Taco
All Marx Brother even the crappy movies
Early 80's movies with a less than PG rating...Bad Girls my favorite.
Wal Mart's Bargin Bin - DVDs under $6.00 w/tax. I got Trading Places there.
Warner's Night At Movies - Complete With Leonard Maltin's 2 cents. (Where I got my Foxy cartoon.)
Universal Legacy Monster DVDs- Wow! five movies for under $20.
Film Noir - Although there should be no guilt here.

And from what I hear, the quality of the movies are excellent. I bought a friend another one of Universal's collections, not a Monster Legacy. It was 4 of the Francis, the Talking Mule movies.

Monster Legacy

Post by creid »

The Monster Legacy has good picture quality but not Criterian. (With that price, no complaints.) The DVD tend to an "A" classic Horror Monster like Frankenstein, Dracula, Mummy, Invisible Man, Wolf Man and the Creature. The pictures and extra tend be very good and then you get 2-4 "B" movies that have reasonable quality with no extras. The sets are worth it just for the A's and the B's are worth watching if you are fan of classic horror. Unfortunately, the B's tend to be on flippers. :(

The Bela Lugosi Collection is out 9/4 with The Black Cat (The "A" movie), The Raven, Murders Of Rue Morgue, Black Friday & Invisible Ray. All for $19 on Amazon with free shipping. (Rocky & Bullwinkle on same order.)

Gosh, wow, short list.
Wow, I am awesome.

Or insanely cynical.

Take your pick. :D

Anyways, I really don't have any guilty pleasures. *shrug*
