I'm not liking this at all
The first sequel was already bad enugh
What's with Disney in making sequels, they just ruin the great movies they first made
Why doesn't everyone just stick to the specific sequel discussion (like Cinderella III, Kronk's New Groove, ...) instead of the endless sequel bashing?

It's all part of the fun as Disney lovers with a hate for cheapquels!

Going back in time isn't "modern" at all. The Fairy Godmother's magic can probably do anything, so time traveling is one of them. Of course nobody was thinking "Hey, can't she wish to go back in time instead of wanting some fancy clothes and other fancy stuff for a few hours?" when Cinderella wished to go to the castle... The stepmother probably discovers about the Fairy Stepmother and sees her chance to use that magic for her own good. This isn't modern at all, it's just a way of payback on the stepmother's side (I think). This could have happened in the original movie too...
Okay so your idea is good in theory but, how does the the Step mother get the fairy God mother's wand? I mean she cant just call upon a fairy becasue the Fairy is good and the Step mother is not. And even if she did why owuld Fairy God mother go anywhere near the nast step mother. I am still going with my first instinct the idea is lame .

If this means more features like The Three Musketeers, I say, bring it on!

Yeah I'm all for non-sequel movies like The Three Musketeers.

Well, that's what we'll find out next year I guess the stepmother will have some sort of plan to get the Fairy God Mother's wand or to get the Fairy God Mother herself in her power. It's all possible... Cinderella to the rescue!

Well, I see the term "cheapquel" as something bad and not really as a term of the movie being cheap. I know the sequels have a smaller budget, but "cheap" is just such an awful word for a movie that could be nice. I mean, it has been used on Cinderella II and Hunchback II!
netenyahoo wrote:The idea of the stepmother going back in time is too modern an idea for the fairy tale. Now if the stepmother wanted to steal the Fairy Godmother's wand to be rich or to take away Cinderella's hapiness then the story would make more sense.
Not really. Lots of Fairy tales feature time travel: From moments in the legend of King Arthur (Merlin experiences visions of the past and future) to Snow White and Sleeping Beauty (via the medium of "sleep" the protagonist remains unaged while time passes), to the story of Shangi-la, to actually having a Titan called "Chronos" in Greek Mythology. Plus the more overt time travel in to more "modern" fairy tales like A Christmas Carol, time travel has been part of literature for centuries. However, the concept of "altering" time seems to be new (but I'm sure that there is an example in one of the books of the 1001 Nights).
I wonder if this will end up as a sort of BTTF PT II affair? After all, it would also be like the Lion King 1.5 if they did it that way?

Actually I didn't think of that! Good point! Maybe the stepmother will tell the story of Cinderella while she was young? In the article they say that they are aiming more for midquels to fill in the gaps of the original movie. But then again, they could have just told us straight ahead that it's about Cinderella when she was young... I'm thinking it's more an evil thing the stepmother will do for her own needs (using the magic of the Fairy God Mother).
COME ON! Stepmother to USE Fairy Godmother to go back in TIME??? Fairy Godmother should only be seen by Cinderella as she is HER own godmother, it's like Jiminy Cricket with Pinocchio! We're not talking about some Science Fiction serie, it is CINDERELLA!!!
It's not science fiction, it's magic Or are you saying that turning mice into horses is also science fiction and that shouldn't have been in the original movie too? Why is going back into the past science fiction, and turning mice into horses or any of the other magic in the original movie is not? Learn to dream! That's what Disney is for
Well so far all the sequels sound interesting to me. Yes, I'm talking about Tarzan II, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, Kronk's New Groove, Cinderella III and The Tinker Bell Movie.
I can't wait to buy all of them. Yes, I know they are cheap sequels but hey they are not so bad like Cinderella 2: Dreams Come True.

why go back in time? couldn't she just make herself more powerful and try to take down the kingdom? I like the idea of the Stepmother somehow using the magic of the fairy godmother, but going back in time kinda losses me.
Kronk's New Groove is sounding pretty good though, i hope it is! I also think that the Tinkerbell movie sounds interesting. I'm gonna have to hold judgement on Tarzan II and Stitch has a Glitch however. I don't know what to think about them.
at least they're attempting to produce one story instead of a bunch of mini episodes (like in Cinderella II).
the whole stealing the wand thing and going back in time does sound a bit off, but i guess we'll see they're ideas and story soon enough. hopefully it's not so wishy washy.
so, how could the stepmother know about the fairy godmother in the first place? didn't we see the step-family get on a carriage before cinderella runs to the garden? hmmm....
Im going to go against the popular consensus and say that i really think this plot has potential, I have always stated that Lady Tremaine was the purest evil disney villain, and stopping cinderella from ever going to the ball and being happy seems like soooo evill...really you know what i welcome fresh new plots for disney flicks...we complain when they rehash and we complain when they give us something new...disney will never ever make everyone happy...and i have already been an advocate of the DTV's ( im a total fan of fun new flicks...)...and that new interview was excellent...i completely applaud DisneyToon Studios to continue embracing Traditional Animation and striving to make DTv and Feature very near close together...im also curious about the projects she mentioned that are in the works that are not sequel/in betweenquel based.

Learn to dream??? My dream are not cheap as this storyline is! Disney USED to make mes dream, but NOT with sequels!
Come on! WHY do you always find excuses to the flat storylines from DTV...
Lady Treamine was pure EVIL okay, but what makes her so scary is that she DIDn't use MAGIC! That's why she was one of the best villain! Plus as i already say, Fairy Godmother souldn't be seen by Treamaine as she is Cinderella's Jiminy Cricket, nobody apart her can see her! That plot is really a cheap cheap idea.
