Tomorrowland, etc.
I think they should do a tin for each land, but not just documentaries like the Tomorrowland one. That one kind of bites. They could put like one old movie in each tin and then the appropriate Wonderful World of Disney episodes. For instance, the Frontierland one could feature "Westward Ho, the Wagons," along with some of Disney's behind-the-scenes stuff. Main Street USA could have a movie like "Summer Magic" and whatever Disney episodes need to be resurfaced. If you think about it, there's one PERFECT movie for each land, like Swiss Family Robinson for Adventureland, and that Matterhorn movie for Fantasyland (even though it's technically an adventure film...ah, well, the Matterhorn RIDE is in Fantasyland. Or is it in Tomorrowland? Does it really belong in any particular land at all? Am I confusing you? I'm confusing myself...

I must confess I'm not that interested in series like "Elfego Baca", "Spin and Marty", "Swamp Fox", etc (but I must confess I would love a Treasure with the Disneyland episodes of "Zorro" and season sets of the series). I'd much rather have a new volume of "Disneyland USA" with shows related to the park, or maybe even a Walt Disney World set (I know Walt wasn't alive by then, but the park was his idea and his dream). A Fantasyland set would be awesome as well, with the programs focusing on characters such as Donald and Goofy. And what about a set with selected shows from "The Wonderful World Of Color", mostly the ones focused on VonDrake?
Well, were I a betting man, here are the "safe" bets for December:
Donald V2
Disney Heroes: Swamp Fox
Call the True Life Adventures a possible. They were supposed to come out in the last wave but were delayed.
The question now is will it be three or four? If four, what would number four be? Heard everything from the Assortment Treasure to Silly Symphonies 2 to who knows.
For me, it's hard with this wait and see mode. Even if the release is a long ways off, it's better knowing than not knowing what is to come.

Dr. Syn Fan Web Site
I found a GREAT fan-generated Web site for "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow!"
http://users.msworldnet.com/tomhering/
On his news and links page, this person expains that an informant told him of Disney's plan to release Dr. Syn as a Walt Disney Treasure.
If it doesn't doesn't get paired w/The Swamp Fox in the "Legendary Heroes" tin, maybe this Dec. 05 Treasure could be "Legendary Heroes: Vol. 1" and leave room for other volumes.

Re: Dr. Syn Fan Web Site
Given the usual marketing stryles in these things, I think the most likely title would be "Legendary Heroes: the Swamp Fox"C3PO wrote:I found a GREAT fan-generated Web site for "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow!"

Vol. 1 isn't really appropriate since later volumes would have different characters, and the use of ":" allows Zorro and the Scarecrow to fit under the same heading. I'm sure if a 2nd printing of Davy Crockett were ever done, that title would be similar treatment as a retroactive member of this line-within-a-line.
Four Swamp Fox espisodes per disc (=4 hours per disc) seems like the limit that Disney would go for on this set. Scarecrow will have to wait until next time. With only 3 episodes there, is there another hero this could be paired with: Scarecrow on one, someone else on another? That would seem the best way to fill out a set.
Wish they would have a Fantasyland one.

Re: Dr. Syn Fan Web Site
Well I hear there are 10 Elfego Baca episodes, 4 from a second season. So those could be paired with Scarecrow. Not sure how wide appeal is for these old live action TV programs, since there's nothing quite as big as "Davy Crockett", but each successive release seems a little less noteworthy of a program. (For instance, from "Mickey Mouse Club" to the "Spin n' Marty" serial.)EarthX wrote:Four Swamp Fox espisodes per disc (=4 hours per disc) seems like the limit that Disney would go for on this set. But people love Dr. Syn, so when that finally comes, I have no doubt it will be relatively popular.

Re: Dr. Syn Fan Web Site
Thanks for posting C3PO. That's a really well-made site and has lots of interesting info. I had no idea "Dr. Syn" was that popular among the general public - actually, I knew almost nothing about it utill I visited the website and now I became very interested about the series. I wouldn't be sorry at all to see "Elfego Baca" replaced by "Dr. Syn" in this year's WDT wave.C3PO wrote:I found a GREAT fan-generated Web site for "Dr. Syn, Alias the Scarecrow!"
