To be honest, I rarely think about the sex of anyone here, so it's rather ironic that I was adamant about including "Girl" in my user name. I love every part of being a girl (er,
woman actually, as I'm 29) and I didn't want to anyone to get confused about my gender. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you.
But actually, my user name is actually just my character's name, and I gave her that name partially because of the stereotypes of the inabilites of women (see last paragraph of my post).
But I love DVD's and the internet and MP3 players and video games and all sorts of technological toys, and it seems strange to me that most people think that it's more of a guy thing. But I guess I can see why since I'm in the minority.
Which reminds me of when I was an airbrush artist at a mall. You wouldn't believe how many customers came up to me and asked where the guy was that did the painting. I'd say, "You're looking at her." And I'd get one of two reactions, either, "Oh? Well, you go, girl!" or, "Oh. Well, you any good?" The latter reaction would get me a little steamed up. Just because I was a
girl they thought I couldn't be a decent artist? I'd politely reply that they could see samples of my work and judge for themselves, and pointed out that the store had yet to fire me.
