ARG! What a good movie. It made me all misty-eyed and whatnot. The score that started to play while Barrie was dancing with the "bear" was really beautiful too.

I watched about 2 seconds of Gossip when it was on TV this morning. And last night I watched:

Exotic jet-setting playgirl and international fashion modeling superstar Aunt of main character Amy drops by for a visit after Amy's mother is killed in bizzare "accident", and starts doing some witchy-work. But Aunt Felice is more than a witch, she's a real beast (some strange tribrid of a vampire, a zombie, and a werewolf) who needs to pass on a very disgusting-looking parasite through a mouth-to-mouth kiss with Amy (think Shivers/They Came From Within, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday). Then Amy will basically become the spirit of the beast, then become the corpse of the body that cannot make it through the transition and Felice will live.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crucade I really like it! I watched it because last night was the night when Jesus had the last supper and I thought it would be a good time to watch the movie where they find the holy grail!

Long time since I've posted here- I'll try to remember everything:

Last week/weekend:

Star Wars - Episode IV: A New Hope
Star Wars - Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

I just can't get enough of Star Wars. This was the first time I watched any/all of the original trilogy films in their special-special edition entirety. While a few of the changes were unnecessarily distracting, I found most of them to be to the benefit of the viewing experience and it was one of the best deliveries on a home theater system that I've ever seen. Still, the original should be included and by complementing the new version I'm in no way excusing the lack of that one.

I, Robot - Very involving. Come to think of it, I don't think I've seen a bad Will Smith movie yet.

Shrek 2 - I watched it once two weeks ago and didn't even make it through it because it wasn't funny (unlike my first viewing of it, which was hilarious). However, it was with people who had all seen it and we talked through a lot of it and didn't pay much attention. Then I watched it again last week with a friend who hadn't seen it and much (though not all) of its hilarity returned, so it is rewatchable and quite a bit better than the first, but I don't see it holding up to many repeat viewings. The biggest problem-- and my friend commented on this too-- is that funny is all it has going for it. The plot is boring and dry. Why? After all, the premise sounds good on paper. It's the fact that there's no investment in developing characters, motives, or explanations. You just don't care about what's happening in between jokes and I really don't think the filmmakers did either. They just had to get a story in there to tie the jokes together and call it a movie. It doesn't even come close to measuring up to the weaker Disney animated classics. I will say, though, that the humor is brilliant and has a surprising amount of social satire for a supposedly family-friendly comedy (though there's very little that's actually family-friendly in it and I find it extremely distasteful that it's marketed that way), and that the final sequence is very good. Spoiler: I hate the ending- why would they turn back into ogres? Oh yeah, because Shrek has to be an oger for Shrek 3.

...That's all I can think of from last week, though I really wouldn't be surprised if there were more.

It's not really a movie, but it is feature-length... I watched Ellen: Here And Now for the umpteenth time earlier this week. Really very funny (and PG comedy). I recommend checking it out if you haven't yet. It's really the best I've ever seen her.

Last night I saw Wide Awake (Miramax)- M. Night Shyamalan's first 'real' film. I was very impressed. It's a comedy, but brilliantly incorporates a very touching dramatic storyline without becoming a bland dramedy. It's part comedy, part self-discovery. The child actor who stars in the film is brilliant and should really have been in a lot more. And of course the big-name supporting cast (Rosie O'Donnel, Julia Styles, Dana Delaney, Cameryn Manheim) helps out a lot too... Rosie is great here. There's even a part for a younger David Krumholtz (Bernard from The Santa Clause)! It's strikingly different from the kind of movies we've gotten from M. Night since then, but you can still see his writing style and direction all over it. Everybody should check this out!

I know you're probably right and that it's probably only done for future features, yet I feel this delivers a nice message of loving yourself and being true to who you are... That's my take on it
