What's so wrong about A Bug's Life?

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

I was reading this review of Finding Nemo and was so upset by reading this:

"The Pixar group has made five computer-animated features: "Toy Story," "A Bug's Life," "Toy Story 2," "Monsters, Inc." and now "Finding Nemo." All of them are high quality, and I'd guess that each one, with the possible exception of "A Bug's Life," will be viewed decades later the way we now revere the classic Disney pictures."

As I see it this movie is as grand, ambitious (at the time) and as funny as Nemo

I don't think there is anything wrong with it usually seems to end up at the bottom of people's lists. McDonald's has the Pixar toys now but none from A Bug's Life... it's not bad enough to be left out...

I'm usually puzzled as well. I'm wondering if it has to do with DVD sales. Are A Bug's Life sales worse than the otherS?

Maybe the main reason is that adults and children don't like bugs or have fears of bugs. Like me I hate spiders!!!! :D Let's just step on them and put them last on the list. Sorry, but it's last on my Pixar list.

I feel the story isn't as strong as the other ones and the characters aren't as memorable. I mean, Woody owns Flick any day of the week.

Well, regarding the Mc Donalds situation there's no reason not to have included it:

1)It's a Pixar film

2)Shouldn't be that small as to be dangerous to children; they have made smaller toys... like the ones in conmemoration of Disney

3)And they're packing in pairs. So if it was a matter of quantity, they could just have sold 1 character per movie.

I'd rank Pixar like this:
1) Monsters, Inc
2) The Incredibles
3) Finding Nemo
4) A Bugs Life
5) Toy Story
6) Toy Story 2

I really like A Bugs Life, although not everyone does. It's all a matter of personal taste.
Cheers!

A Bug's Life was a great Pixar, it was even better than Toy story 1 and 2 in my opinion.

There are 4 weeks in a month that is why McDonald's chose 4 sets of Pixar characters. McDonald's chose the 4 most popular movies. You guys are spoiled anyways. I would kill for a Studio Ghibli Happy meal.

They could have very well add 1 more week to that promo then.

It's just that is so rude to have done that with just 6 films.

Especially when they surely could with the Disney toys.

If they had Studio Ghibli happy meals they would be a must for me. I like Disney and Pixar but Studio Ghibli, as far as collectibles go interests me more. However I don't have anything like that yet. not sure if anything exists really.

There's nothing wrong with the movie, it just isn't as good as the others. After all it made about 165 million dollars which isn't bad, just lower than the others. A Bug's Life used to be my least favorite but I just saw Finding Nemo today and I now think it's worse than A bug's life. Here's my new list:

1. Incredibles
2. Toy Story 2
3. Monster's Inc.
4. Toy Story
5. A Bug's Life
6. Finding Nemo.

The biggest question now is not why A Bug's Life isn't popular but why Finding Nemo is!

More people need to see A Bug's Life and see it again. It's a brilliant film and one which reveals more of its greatness on repeat viewings. I'd encourage anyone who thinks it's Pixar's 'worst' and who hasn't seen it in 3 years or more to give it another shot.
"Fifteen years from now, when people are talking about 3-D, they will talk about the business before 'Monsters vs. Aliens' and the business after 'Monsters vs. Aliens.' It's the line in the sand." - Greg Foster, IMAX chairman and president

I just saw A Bug's Life for the first time on Sunday and I really liked it. I cant really compare it to the other Pixar movies as I haven't seen them in a long time though.

I refuse to rank Pixar's movies because I think they're all excellent. Honestly it's like going out to a bar and you're given the choice of six supermodels you can date. I mean are you really going to lose out? I don't think so.

I don't like A Bug's Life.
Why?
Because, IMO, it's not that trilling as most others. Sure, the comedy is great and so are the characters and voice acting, but, the story is just...blah. KInda plain, Kinda boring.

But that's me.
But hey, I'm probably the only person here who didn't like The Incredibles. Feh, I'd rank ABL above that movie.....

Yeah the story itself. Not just myself, but other people I know said the same thing, it just isn't as good as the other Pixar films.
