Will it star her daughter or anything? Those kind of movies are very predictable.

I really think that they could create a wonderful story for another sequel, but...well, we all know Disney.

Well, this doesn't sound good(I've seen Cinderella 2,and while it's not bad,it's not really good either)...but,I'll reserve judgement until I actually see the preview(I thought Bambi 2 was a bad idea when I first heard about it,but it looks like it might be decent)...

I'd love if Disney made the title without a number, like BatGP and completely ignored the fact that Cinderella II exists. that'd be my dream.

Cinderella's Fairy Godmother is expelled from the Guild of Fairy Godmothers when it is revealed that she had been granting the wishes of Mice (see Cinderella II). However, she refuses to go and as a concequence the Guild perform the worst punishment that they can - all her good deeds are negated!

So Cinderella finds herself once more the abused houseservant of her sisters and Lady Tremain. But after having known the taste of the good life, she fights to once more reclaim her Prince Charming. This time armed with nothing more than a mop, and bucket, and the sharpest meat cleaver ever known...

the plot thinnens

Post by Owlzindabarn »

Here's the most likely "plot" they'll come up:

Cinderella and Prince (what the heck WAS his name anyway?) have been married about 15 years. They have a daughter who's fed up with being a princess. So she dresses in rags and goes out into the world. She meets some common townsboy and falls madly in love. In the end, and after a lot of adventures and misunderstandings, they marry. The end.

If it sounds like the plot of about 2 dozen other Disney cheapquels, that's because...it is!

See, cheapquels generally follow the EXACT plot of the original, but try to fool you into believing that it's a "role reversal" kind of thing, tinged with "irony." (Like anyone at Cheapquel Central even understands the basics of drama). For example, Little Mermaid 2 had Ariel's human daughter wanting to be a mermaid, instead of the other way around. Ooooo, how clever, Disney! Lady & the Tramp 2 used the same exact story except there was a sex change. Our lovable Scamp even brings his broad to the exact same restaurant where his folks used to shack up. And they go on a walk through the same exact park, and view the footprints that Lady & Tramp left there back in 1955. Originality is of no concern of consequence in the Land of Misfit Sequels.

Simba's Pride had the same exact story as the original. And the madness continues. At least 101 Dalmations 2 was far, far less offensive to the fans because it had a new storyline...that's what we really want...the same characters in new situations. But for Cinderella III...mark my words; it's going to be plotted somewhere along the lines of the original story.

And at the risk of boring you, let me carry my reasoning even further. The fact that Lady 2, Lion King 2 and others had incredibly similar plots to their original inspirations proves to me a horrible misjudgment on the part of Disney marketing. In using the same PLOTS over and over, what they're thinking is that the PLOTS are what made those original films so popular. What we can't seem to make them understand is that it's the CHARACTERS that made Lion King, Cinderella, etc. into gigantic hits. Do you agree?

The producers of 101 Dalmations 2 seemed to understand this. Everybody loves Cruella DeVille and the puppies. So that's what we got. There was no attempt to make the film with Cruella's sister coming back for revenge by kidnapping the puppies again and keeping them in a spooky house or some dumb thing. We just got the same characters in a new romp. That's just fine.

They've got to let the characters sell the story next time. If it's Cinderella, you've got to reuse the mice, the bumbling king, the fairy godmother....but you've got to put them into an entirely different plot. It can be romantic but it's not about girl gets boy anymore. They've either got to go off on an adventure, or have a threat to the kingdom...you can't just put Cinderella back into rags and have her go through the whole thing again. Even if it's her daughter. At any rate, Jasmine did that bit back in "Aladdin."

Cheapquels are proven to be, 75% of the time, sheer marketing. The movies have absolutely no point outside of sales. They are not art, they are not literature, they are not film. They exist for the sole purpose of salesmanship. It's harsh but true.

How did Lion King II use the same plot as the first film. Admittedly, it wasn't an original premise (Romeo & Juliet, more or less), but neither was the first film (Hamlet). But other than the fact that there was a coming-of-age, there wasn't much in common that I remember. Return of Jafar, on the other hand, was mostly a retread of the original, but I sort of liked it.

The new shorts on the Disney Princess DVDs are glorified read-alongs and are about 10 minutes long. They couldn't string a legitimate Cinderella III out of them if they tried.
