They Might be Giants - here come the ABCs

Post by humphreybear »

I'm sorry if this has already been posted, but I hadn't seen a post about the upcoming TMBG's Here come the ABCs DVD and CD, so I was wondering when the release date was. Please forgive me if this has already been on here. I looked on Amazon.com and the release date is Feb. 15. Also, Amazon.com had a release track information (there are a couple of amazon exlcusive tracks, I wonder if there will be similar through other retailers?):

3. E Eats Everything
4. Flying V
5. I Am A Robot
6. Q U
7. Go for G!
8. Pictures of Pandas Painting
9. D&W
10. Fake-Believe
11. Can You Find It?
12. Introducing the Vowel Family
13. The Vowel Family

17. Alphabet Lost and Found
18. ICU
19. I Am A Robot (type B)
20. Introduction to Who Put The Alphabet in Alphabetical Order?
21. Who Put the Alphabet in Alphabetical Order?

23. L M N O
24. Introduction to C is for Conifers

33. Here In Higglytown (Theme to Higglytown Heroes Bonus track)
34. Violin (Exclusive Amazon.com track)

The DVD costs $9 through amazon, actually a little less than the CD.

One thing that is unclear to me, since the cd is from Buena Vista Music Group, will the DVD be from Buena Vista Home Video and say "Disney DVD" or will it be from Disney Sound?

It doesn't really matter. I guess I'm just wondering how they are marketing it. I've enjoyed the videos on the Disney Channel and I think I'll get a kick out of the dvd - I'm even glad that the Higgly Town Heros clip is on there; I like the song even though I don't like the show, and I'm sure that will be a plus for a lot of kids (if they are like mine).

Looks like the DVD release is under the Universal Music Video. Walt Disney Records must have some kind of agreement with them. Next week's "Disneymania Live" DVD is being released by them as well. The short-lived Disney Read-Alongs were distributed by Universal too.

wow, thanks, that seems really weird; I had no idea. I wonder why in the world Disney's music division is releasing through Universal.

OK, here's the thing.

After seeing the shorts on playhouse DISNEY on the DISNEY channel, and reading about the release on the DISNEY web site, and reading an article about the dvd/cd in the DISNEY magazine, I went to the DISNEY store at the mall and there it was, with a sticker on the front that says "As seen on playhouse DISNEY on the DISNEY channel" and a logo on the back case for DISNEY Sound, and a copyright notice that said "Copyright DISNEY 2005," and so I really can't figure out why this is off-topic for a site about DISNEY dvd's??

Because it's neither a Disney movie or a DVD. But nonetheless, I'll move it into General Discussion for you.

Thanks Luke. I wasn't complaining, I've just been trying to figure out if it was a Disney DVD or not. It is a DVD. Perhaps since there is also a music CD the music cd is distributed by someone else, but the music cd has a copyright disney on it, too. But there is both a dvd and a cd with the title.

I mean, I know that the wiggles show on playhouse disney, but the wiggles dvds aren't disney dvds, because they aren't really produced by Disney in Australia. They are ITS or something like that. Rollie Pollie Ollie is produced in Canada, but the Rolie Polie Olie dvds are stamped "Disney DVD." I'm assuming the new Jojo's Circus dvds will be Disney dvds - I'm sure they will be. I was just trying to figure out if the here comes the abc's dvd is a disney dvd or not. FWIW, I think I'm going to consider it is and get it. Not that I'm a completist of some sort or think I have to have every single disney dvd (I don't), I would just be somehow more interested in this one if it was disney.
