Even though I have been here a while I echo the comments. Recently, I tried disboards, and was constantly under attack by those who did not share my views. It's a nice little place Luke has here. As daelex said real friendly.

www.disboards.com

The biggest disney messge board on the internet. It really has a lot of problems though. Too many messageboards, it is totally unweildy. Secondly, there are so many people it is hard to keep track of who is who. Third, there is a segment of the posters who believe since they post often and have been there a long time they are the equivalent of board moderators and do not hesitate to tell you how you should act(not only on the board but in your life). It really goes beyond advise.

A good source of information and especially trip planning but I would not recommend it as a discussion board.

Ditto. Mr. Toad is right. I haven't tried Disboards but any message board of this size or larger typically becomes hectic and nasty. An example is WDWMagic, though it's quite a bit more friendly and fun than a lot. Take Amy Grant's fan club, for example. The people there are horrible to one another and in general... I always compare that atmosphere to this, another fan-based phpbb message board. UD comes off quite favorably in those comparisons and it's the reason that it's become my message board of choice. The credit goes to everyone here who contributes to the resources and environment of the site and forum, especially Luke.

So let me get this straight. People go to the message board of a Christian singer to be nasty to each other?

...And not only that, but pay $40 a year for it (more if outside the US). Of course most of them aren't Christians, though (atheist Amy Grant fans sounds crazy, I know, but either they became fans sometime after her pop-crossover in the mid-80s or they used to be Christians and have converted and now simply deny to themselves that she ever sang or still sings Christian songs). Throw into the mix that typical "I'm a fan, so I'm entitled to be even more critical of [insert object of fandom here] than the general public" attitude as well as the "holier than thou" Christian bunch, and it's not a fun place to be. Every day is a knock-down drag-out debate.

Actually, that's not an entirely true portrayal... a lot of fan club members are Christians and many of them are quite nice (And, in all fairness, thanks to the Admin there it's improved quite a bit over the last year). ... it's the ones who "rule" the message boards who aren't. Out of over 3,000 members, they probably make up less than 100, but that's the way it goes when you have people who live on a board and 6,000+ posts are common (compared to my 1,000 there... and the fan club message board is just over one year old).
