Help me with these DVDs!!! (Urgent)

Post by Evil Genie Jafar »

Well, the thing is that I'm going to get enough money to buy LOTS of DVDs. And in my "to buy" list these are my options:

1) Buy just anime.... (the "Oh My Goddess "collection" comes on 3 separate DVDs)

2) Instead of buying those DVDs just keep on buying Xena. Aside from The Simpsons, this is the other series I buy. And I just have the first season.

Things come down to this:

Buy the anime series I want and with just enough money to buy the second and third seasons of Xena or drop the anime and buy one more season of Xena.

PS

Besides, I have 3 more anime collections I'm going to buy and the Oh My Goddess DVDs miss the first volume, and I want my order deliver as soon as possible since, this coming week will be the only time I'd have free time.

But isn't Oh my Goddess on only two volumes? Or are you counting the movie? Or the Mini Goddesses series? No, wait, that's more than three volumes. . . of course there's the TV anime, but I don't think that's available yet. . .

Anyway, I really enjoy my discs, but I'm a verified shoujo freak. . . er, I mean, fan. Yeah, that's it. Xena's cool, but she ain't got nuthin' on Urd, LOL!

You may not like these series but I do. That's the reason why I want to buy them in the first place, don't you think? 8)

Sunset Girl:

Yeah, I'm just talking about the OVAS and the movie. Not the Mini Godddess series.

And the site where I'm going to buy them don't have the first volume in stock for now.

XENA!

Although I thought Hercules was a better show. :P I liked both shows but I kind of wish they took things more seriously at times. I mean humour is okay but I never enjoyed the downright goofiness at times. Still they really had great, great episodes in each series and they used to entertain me immensly throughout the late 90's.

Sadly I have none on DVD and I'm not sure I'll collect them but it would really be nice to have the Hercules TV movies since I was hooked on them in the summer of 1994 when a station would play them constantly over and over and over. I got two on tape but the quality is getting bad.

Just keep in mind the "Ah! My Goddess" movie is produced by a different anime company than the series (hence the change in title) and it was done years and years later. As much as I love Ruby Marlow (or whatever psuedonym she uses here) and Wendee Lee, I prefer the original voice actresses, Juliet what's-her-name (ok, ok, so it's been a while since I've seen it, LOL) and whoever did Urd's voice back then! So anyway, the English voice actors are totally different, but I believe the Japanese cast is the same. Ah, I can see my memory is getting rusty, LOL!

Personally, I'd only go for the OAV series, or the funny Mini Goddesses with Gan-chan (but will cost you more due to the volume). I loved the artwork in the movie, but didn't really get into the story very well.

And speaking of Mini Goddesses, they have the same English voice actors as the movie, but somehow it works better here.

At any rate, I love the OAV series. It's got gorgeous artwork (wow, check out those backgrounds) and a beautiful score. Oh, and I happen to love the story, too. It also happens to be the very first anime I bought at a store besides Sailor Moon, which was almost ten years ago now, so I guess I'm also nostalgic about it.

Hey, Video Girl Ai is my favorite manga of all time! I mean, I like the anime too, but the manga is so detailed and sweet and touching and perverted all at once, LOL.

I guess I never really thought about it before, but it does have a lot of similarites to Oh My Goddess. But I think Belldandy and Keiichi are a lot more innocent as characters than Yota and especially Ai. But maybe Urd makes up for that, LOL! So anyway, OMG is very innocent and sweet with a touch of perversion in the second episode, LOL.

Hope that helps!

I liked the Mini Goddess series better than the Ah My Goddess movie. I haven't seen the Oh My Goddess OVAs yet.

I'd go with the Oh My Goddess OAVs and the Ah My Goddess movie(I'm not familiar with Xena,though)...I thought both English voice casts did well(I prefer dub to sub with anime, for the most part)...and both the OAV and movie are entertaining...
