You're right; Transformers is a very expensive show. But there were only 4 seasons (though honestly it was more like 3 seasons plus 3 episodes of a fourth).
Plus I used gift cards from birthdays, christmas, etc. to buy each of the TF boxsets; I never paid more than $45 canadian for any given one.
But mostly, the exception was made because it simply isn't aired on any television channel that I recieve or know of. I believe it's due to issues current rating groups have with the violence and reckless disregard for human life shown in the series. Those things weren't as big issues in the mid-80s and early 90s. It may come on some channel somewhere; but I haven't seen it listed on any channel the TV Guide reports on since the early 90s when it was re-aired as G2.
And you really can't beat the nostalgia value of TF; at least if you grew up in the 80s.
Our news item containing the Desperate Housewives press release was met with a flurry of emails regarding the Full Frame aspect ratio. The show has aired in widescreen on the ABC HD feed, and fans were looking forward to enjoying a widescreen transfer of the show on DVD so they were a bit shocked, and upset, when the press release didn't meet their expectations. We spent most of the day calling people at Buena Vista Home Entertainment to determine if the press release was correct, or why they decided to go with a Full Frame transfer. They didn't have an immediate answer, but said they would get back to us.
We just received a phone call to let us know that the video transfer will be Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1). That's all the information we have; we don't know whether the original press release was simply incorrect, or if a change was made due to the feedback from fans. A revised press release should be available later today or Monday.
Good!
I can't tell though...I usually have my T.V. settings to "panorama" so all T.V. shows fit. I prefer top&bottom black bars over left&right black bars.
haha, just kidding.
whatever the OAR is..that's what i prefer
