What should be the next UltimateDisney.com countdown?
What should be the next UltimateDisney.com countdown?
Over the past two years, UltimateDisney.com has had countdowns for animated classics, live action films, songs, and villains. This spring, we'll be doing something new.
Here are some ideas I've had, but feel free to come up with one or more ideas of your own for consideration.
Disney Legends
The actors and actresses who have made the most significant contributions to Disney films over the years. (This could be stretched to include directors, animators, etc., but the results might be so skewed to "celebrity" that it'd perhaps be better to just limit to live action and voice actors.
Disney Shorts
This might be tough since there are hundreds of short films to choose from, and then there's a blurred line as to what should count. Make the '50s a cut-off? Include everything? Would people remember and know enough shorts to do this? As popular as the Treasures and CCFs line are, I'm thinking maybe.
Disney Heroes & Heroines
Self-explanatory, a countdown of the most richly defined protagonists in Disney films.
Disney Sidekicks
Both comedic sidekicks and henchmen could apply here; it'd be a nice way to honor memorable characters who fall outside of the heroes or villains roles.
Even if you vote, it'd be nice if you could make a post explaining which topic or topics interest you and why. Thanks!

Of those in the poll, I'd most like to see Heroes & Heroines. I think that would be a lot of fun, so it's the one I voted for, though I'd really be ok with any of them. Another suggestion would be Disney TV shows. That's all I have for now, but will keep thinking.

Now that we have seen a lot of them in the Treasures, I would prefer the shorts out of any of those and by quite a wide margin. I can see my #1 right now - gotta be the Menstration one.

Disney Sidekicks
I haven't seen that many shorts so sidekicks I'd think would be fun.

I think it would be coolest to countdown the shorts.
I think maybe when you talk about shorts that you should provide
a list of possible shorts to vote for.
Maybe you could ask for a list of nominees by the forum
initially and then vote for the winner.
It just depends on what you define as a short.
Here are some of my favorite, but some may not count unless 'short' is more clearly defined.
Mickey and The Beanstalk (a segment from a longer film)
Mickey's Christmas Carol (1/3 of the length of a feature film)
Small One (A Stand Alone Story Telling Film)
Steamboat Willie (The Original b&W Cartoon)
and others Mickey 'Toons that run between 5-10 minutes.
Which catengory would we include,
all 'cartoons' or all shorts that aren't from a feature length film,
or could we even include segments like those from Fantasia, such as the Sorcerer's Apprentice...
Whatever way we go, I still think this countdown has the most fun behind it.

I'll have to go with Disney Sidekicks. I think it will be a lot of fun because there are so many great ones to choose from. My next favorite would be the Heroes and Heroines.
