Disney has revealed that their Cinderella: Special Edition - DVD Platinum Collection (SRP $29.99) is on the way for this summer. We'll give you a street date and specs as soon as they're announced. The studios' Walt Disney's Cartoon Classics: Wave 2 is also set for 5/31 (SRP $14.99 each). Look for Volume 5: Extreme Sports Fun, Volume 6: Extreme Music Fun and Volume 7: Extreme Adventure Fun. They also have a straight-to-video Bambi sequel... Bambi and the Great Prince of the Forest... on the way for Spring 2006.
maybe bambi's huge sales have made them want to release earlier, compared to the october slot, that aladdin didnt do so well in last year, it would be nice, and maybe in october we would get a another classic quick release...

As much as I wish it would be true, and i hate to burst my bubble along with everyone else's i highly doubt a change in release date. They must have it wrong. Disney themselves have officially advertised this as an "October 2005" release although no confirmed date has been given. AND disney could risk missing a HUGE holiday profit. who buys dvd's in the summer and who buys dvd's at christmastime. see what i mean? it's logic marketing for disney. maybe when they get more info we'll know for sure

I thought that disney might have wanted to push the PE's at least 3 a year sooner or later, just so that they can get started with the blue-ray releases sooner. I could see cinderella coming out in june and lady and the tramp coming for october. If that's the case that means the little mermaid would come in march and we all know that would be freakin awesome!
The Digital Bits is wrong, and not at all for a first time. This is what happens when you get Disney DVD news from non-UD places! Didn't they say something about Bambi coming in October of this year at some point too?
In their defense, it must be harder keeping on top of things when you're dealing with all DVDs.

I E-mailed Bill Hunt (editior of www.thedigitalbits.com), and advised him that the trailer for Cinderella: Platinum Edition states that the release comes in October 2005. He has since changed his original post to say, "later this year", and in his post, today, he mentions that the trailer on Bambi: Platinum Edition states Cinderella will come out in October.
