A 2-disc edition is likely for Hercules but nothing's been announced yet. But at the earliest the release would be in 2006. Ditto for The Hunchback of Notre Dame (which is in need of a 2-disc set because it's one of my favs! *huff*).

I wouldn't expect anything prior to 2007, as Disney seems to be obsessed with Anniversary editions lately (With the exception of Lilo And Stitch, which proves that other things can happen). But if I were putting money on it, I'd bet for a 2007 release of a 10th Anniversary Edition

While I have the Hercules DVD,I'd probably buy it again if they did a 2-Disc release,especially if it had an audio commentary track(I love hearing the directors talk about the making of the film),and interviews with the cast..

If you were to wait until that, you'd be waiting forever! lol, i don't think that Disney will be adding any more titles to the Platinum Line. They'll come up with a new line-up when the Blue-ray's start and maybe then Herc will be a part of that, but my best guess would be a 2007 10th anniversary eddition.

I think I´m just getting Disney´s release policy, we all know that all of the 90´s classics have a 2 disc potential, so, Pocahontas is the first to be a 10th Anniversary edition this year, then next year will be Hunchback turn, and Hercules for 2007; since 2008 is too late for a dvd rerelease of Mulan, then they release it in 2004 when is not a 10th anniversary of any 90´s movie (well, it is for Lion king, but, you know...); we already have a 2 disc edition for Tarzan, so they just simply rerelease it this year.

So it will be for sure, a 2 disc 10th Anniversary Edition of Hercules coming in 2007, and a Hunchback of NotreDamme in 2006, just as Pocahontas this year

This would be great! Ive been holding back on buying these movies because I figured they would be released within the next couple year. Hopefully there release wont come any later because these are my favorite movies!

We already have a 2 disc edition for Tarzan, so they just simply rerelease it this year.

Also, is the re-release of this official for this year? I missed out on the 2-disc Collector's Edition and now its sooo expensive and my 1-disc edition broke!

Guys -- if you really want Hercules, get it. Check out <a href=http://www.ultimatedisney.com/hercules.html target=blank>my review for the site</a>; the current edition is not too bad. I'd encourage casual fans to wait out for the SE, but if you LOVE the movie, it's solid enough to warrent a purchase. You'll probably get enough use out of it before 2007, not to mention that by 2007 it will be on Blu-ray too, and a reissue on regular DVD entirely depends on wheather or not Blu-ray becomes mainstream by then.

Forgiving the lack of anamorphic enhancement, the transfer looks pretty good and certianly accurate to what was seen on theater screens in 1997. And while the extras are slim it's easily better than an of the other discs that originated as Limited Issues.

I really really really really hope you are right! As for Tarzan i hope that comes out as a SE here in the US soon!!!

Oh man thats a bummer I totaly forgot about the whole Anniversery thing Disney has going on, Hercules to me is some what of an under rated film it has great potential to be an awsome 2-disc edition but waiting an till 2007 ugh!

I would really hope Disney decides to flesh out a 10th Anniversary Line, so at least we have some consistency and not a stand alone like Alice and Wonderland. I wouldn't mind waiting for a Mulan 10th Anniversary Edition, as I have yet to pick that one up. I'm trying to think what they could possibly release other titles under that are not in the Platinum/10th Anniversary Edition line. I don't know, but the stand-alone Alice in Wonderland is really bugging me.

I thought i heard somewhere that Lilo & Stitch might be a ME. i hope so anyways. I can't wait for Herc to come out, i'm really anticipating it's release!

Blu-Ray/HD-DVD will NOT completely replace current DVDs until at least 2010. This is straight from the horses mouth, many execs of studios have been quoted as saying that once HD-DVD comes out they will release movies on both formats. They have said that it would be suicide to just abandon DVD until much later. So if there is a DVD release of Hercules at the time Blu-ray/HD-DVD comes out, expect a double release, one on the new format, and one on the current format
