This film is so overrated. What REALLY ticks me off is when others claim it to be a Mormon film. It's NOT.

Mormon teens enjoy + Made by Mormons= non Mormon film.
All Mormons enjoy it + Made by Mormons X About Mormons = Mormon film.

It really ticked me off one day in Chat when Jack and Luke insisted it was a Mormon film because Joseph Smith did all that Nappy D does. Not true. I'm not sure if it was just a joke, cause we all know Luke and Jack for the jokesters they are ;) , but I failed to see the humor in their comments. Same thing with the movie.

In short: I hate everything about this movie and don't get why people find it so funny.

I'll make this short...

It's one of the worst movies ever made in my opinion

After seeing the commercials for this movie, I saw it as a rental. I found it to be flippin sweet! I went out and bought it and it turned out to be pretty much the best comedy DVD ever. I've watched it 7 times now and it just gets funnier every time I see it. Its strange that there are people who don't love this film... IDIOTS!

 Eric and Toad...

I, and others here, having been imitating Napolean Dynamite's way of speaking. There was no harm intended. I don't think that anyone was serious about it being the funniest/greatest movie ever, it was again merely an imitation of what Napolean himself might say. I hope this clears things up and that you can both have a better day.

I know, I have seen it. But the fact that its meanspiritedness has overflown into real lives is exactly why I really disliked the movie.

Peace.

It's meanspiritedness has overflown into real life how? I didn't notice that the film was meanspirited at all. How can a movie as goofy as this one be more mean spirited than let's say... professional wrestling?

I know that Luke asked but I will as well. Please tell us what was mean-spirited in this film?

There, I think that review kind of sums up my thoughts and puts it more succinctly than I ever could.

As for professional wrestling, its several steps below napolean dynamite. I am kind am sad I was ever involved.

Well, this thread has definintely proven my point. You pretty much love this or absolutely detest it. Very little in-between.

I would have had my girlfriend come over to post in this thread, but she had to do some modeling shoots in Tulsa.

And Luke, don't be jealous just because I've been chatting with the ladies online all day.

Ah ha! I finally figured out why you hate this movie. You got offended when they tortured the wrestling action figure in the beginning! I knew I'd figure it out!

If only that hadn't hurt the wrestling figure! But that's the way it is when you do whatever you flippin want to do!

Believe me I tortured my share of toy wrestlers over the years. Gotta big box of them somewhere still I think. At that point I was still enjoying the movie, in fact probably my favorite scene.

What is the point to this movie anyway? There's basically no story whatsoever they just threw it all together hoping it would make sales just because it's funny when it's not even funny. I found it dumb and pointless.

I saw this movie in an indy theater before it was widely released and loved it then. It has now become my most watched DVD that I own. But there is no middle ground for this movie. You either love it or you hate it.

The point? ...that everyone in the world thinks they're a heck of a lot cooler than they really are. ...Napolean, Kip, Uncle Rico, Summer, Don, Rex, Trisha, LaFawnduh, Pedro, Randy, etc, etc

Now do make yourself a dang quesadilluh!

I thought this movie was stupid and had absolutely no point to it, but I absolutely LOVED it! The first time I watched it, I didn't really like it, but I did find myself laughing a lot. Then, my parents rented it, and I found myself watching it again, and then we bought it, and we watched it again. I find myself quoting it all the time now. :D

I think what I found to be most funny was that he was really intense in just about everything he said.
