Aladdin And The King Of Thieves DVD Misprint R1
I was so mad when I was buying the set because online I had checked it out before I went out and bought it and online it said that it was widescreen and the return of jafar was fullscreen but when I got to safeway and read the packaging both said fullscreen but I bought them anyway. Well when I got home and watched it it turns out it is in fact widescreen (aladdin and the king of thieves) yayeeeeeeeee
Is everyone elses Aladdin ATKOT's widescreen as well?

If you go check the review you'll see that even tough King of Thieves says it's full screen, it is not.
In this case, I'm sorry to tell you but this widescreen presentation IS WRONG. Not only because it isn't the real format but because they didn't format it to protect the transfer..
For example: Stephen King's It was originally FS, but on the DVD they made a new WS transfer in a way that it doesn't loose anything. Unlike KoT. Take for example the first time The Oracle appears: her head is chopped!.

Disney's whole take on the releases of the Aladdin sequels puzzles me. First, they made no attempt to restore the video. The video should have looked much better than them just slapping it onto a DVD. If they could do a digital restoration of Simba's Pride, they should have given the same treatment to the Aladdin sequels. Then, they go and do this weird crop job on The King of Thieves, and mislabel the DVD. As far as the extra's go, they might as well have not bothered.Daelex wrote:so if they did that to the 3rd one why didnt they do it to the 2nd?
It seems to me that Disney just slapped the films on DVD, and said, "People will buy them, regardless." To me, that's just not right. The release of these films could have been alot better, but Disney hardly put any effort into them, except for releasing them.
Just my two cents.

dang...!
I bought the 2-pack the day they came out and haven't looked at it yet. I am extremely disappointed to hear that they cropped KoT...I mean, what is the point? if the movie was a made-for-video release that was full screen in the first place, why crop it to make it look widescreen? I can't figure out any point under the sun to do such a thing. I'm very angry with Disney over this.

I'm still wondering about that too.Daelex wrote:so if they did that to the 3rd one why didnt they do it to the 2nd?
My guess is that the only reason they did that just with KoT was because Robin Williams is there. For example, someone told me in this forum that The Return of Jafar soundtrack doesn't include the Genie song just because RW doesn't sing it.
And yeah, they could have at least made a cleaner transfer and a better 5.1 for RoJ.

You must remember, these sequels were originally created with that same purpose... They're just getting what they deserve!MadonnasManOne wrote:It seems to me that Disney just slapped the films on DVD, and said, "People will buy them, regardless." To me, that's just not right. When I first heard the KoT aspect ratio had been butchered, I decided not to buy it; and that decision stands. Personally, I have no idea why Disney would even have done it. It must've cost them extra to take it and crop like that, as opposed to just slapping the original 1.33:1 version on DVD along with RoJ. Usually they're all about maximizing profit at the expense of their customers; but apparently even profit takes a back seat when they can directly screw their customers with the poorest transfer possible.
