Disney Princess Giant Sculpture

Post by Sailor Eric »

Hi!!! I'm not sure if this should go in this section, but anyways...
In art class we have to do a giant sculpture, and so my group and I were thinking of doing a Disney character (probably life size)!!! I really wanted to do a human figure and I'm glad the other two were open to it.
All together, Belle, Ariel, Cinderella, Sebastian, Flounder, Chip, Aladdin and Aurora were possibilities for this project.
Unfortunately, my dear Ariel was said no by the other two... they'd thought it be difficult!!!
They were insisting a lot on Cinderella, and I really didn't want to much, but I said yes because I rathered do her than some others...
That's when I thought of doing Sleeping Beauty asleep, just like in the kiss scene!!! The other two loved the idea and so right now we are thinking of doing her or Cinderella.
I'm happy!!! What do you think of this???

That sounds like a pretty cool art project! I'd suggest to do Sleeping Beauty because I can see it being made more artistically done than Cinderella or you could do Cinderella when she is losing/trying on the glass slipper or something. I dunno. Wherever you feel most comfortable because then you'll make better art. :)

What material are you going to use? Please post pictures! Not just the finished project, but the process that went into sculpting it!

That sounds like so much fun!

Ok yeah, I'll take pics of the making of and the finished product, I'm starting tomorrow (well today, it's past 12 am)!!!
I really like the idea of Sleeping Beauty more, plus I like her more too ( 1 billion times). I also thought of the slipper scene for Cinderelly, but a girl thought it be diffucult because of the dress movement... I guess we won't her, her dress is too wide to fit rhrough a door, I think.

I'm happy with Aurora!!! :)

I think the material is called mache or something like that... first we do the figure with wire and stuff and then put the mache paper on it, I think.

I think Sleeping Beauty would be a good choice. I, too, would love to see the work-in-progress. I think it's neat how people can do that.

So, we started today. Unfortunately, we're doing Cinderella. The other girls kept saying everything was hard, and one of them just came in and commanded to make Cinderella. I hate it!!! I'm glad I was there to help because they were making the dress round and not so wide as it should be... I'll take my camera tomorrow so you can see some progress.

We're not doing Cinderella!!! Yay!!! We had finished doing the bottom part of the dress and I suggested doing Chip because it looke like a tea cup upside down, and the two girls agreed really excitedly! Since the bottom part of the dress was a mess and we couldn't shape it well into a tea cup, I suggested starting again. So, today we started we the base...
I'm really happy that we're doing Chip!!!!
