Re: Cinderella's gown
I had that Golden Book too. I remember in one picture when she is running down the steps of the palace she even has a red cape. The book is actually a re-print of an older version that I believe came out before the movie was even finished. So basically it can be considered concept art. I wish I could have appreciated the illustrations when I was younger. I used to hate them because they looked so different from the movie!yendor wrote: As a kid, I had the little Golden Book of Cinderella, and on the cover, it showed her in a white gown! With pink ribbons, yet!

Re: Listen to the preview, then judge!
I haven't seen the clip, so I'll take a wild guess here. Maybe Cinderella is in the process of being cleaned up in the sound department and they wanted to show some clean animation, but the sound wasn't prepared yet so they had to revoice some of the characters for the commercial... Maybe?yendor wrote:I watched and listened to the Cinderella preview five times, and the voices are definitely not original at the beginning. Instead of not watching the preview and then dismissing our perceptions, why not spend all of 2 minutes and watch? Sheesh, some people.

The Harry Potter sign is from the American International Toy Fair product promotion showing some of the first toys coming out such as LEGO sets and film artifacts, plus a forthcoming DVD playable game about the 4 films, so that may be disc art but just not a real disc.PatrickvD wrote:well the "Goblet of Fire logo" looks real... but it's not disc art I think, there's no hole in the middle![]()
.. maybe some sort of promotional thing? considering both are due out in fall.

Re: Cinderella's gown
I cried too. It was such a nice dress. But as far as violent by Today's standards, maybe. People today can do things that are worse than that to a dress, and worse than 'paint' or whatever it is in Sleeping Beauty. But hey, it was the gown that the fairy godmother gave her that got her noticed, if she was in the other dress, I don't think the prince would have looked twice. Even if it was restored to how it was before they ripped it.RJKD23 wrote:I cried!yendor wrote:Are there any of you who were as surprised at me by the viciousness of the stepsisters when they tear Cindy's dress to shreds? LOL
This stories are all about the magic of love and soulmates.
No matter if Cinderella would have shown upp in drags, the prince woul'd have instantly loved her...
as in any disney flick...
look at Sleeping Beauty, Prince Phillip meet Briar Rose in her regular dress, and loved her...
It's not what you wear... it's who you are!

Yep, Cindy makes even those ugly rags look almost pretty. XDRic-Mx wrote:LOL![]()

Aurora in her Briar Rose peasant outfit was beaaaautiful though. I actually prefer that dress over her blue/pink princess gown!
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

Oh yes! I love Briar Rose!!! I could never decide if I like her clothes more than the princess gown, but I looove it too. Aurora looks just like the fair, pure, graceful maiden she truly is. But we all know Prince Phillip was attracted because of her voice, so probably that's why he didn't care about the peasant dress. You could also infer that he just isn't superficial.
The website for Cinderella is up at: http://disney.go.com/disneyvideos/anima ... ndex2.html Although it all it has so far is the trailer, what makes this interesting is that it includes what seems to be the revised version of the cover's characters. Although it doesn't seem likely anymore that Cindy and the Prince will swap places, at least the revised ones look better than the first ones. I just hope they tweak Cindy a bit more before release (her hair needs to be a bit darker, but the dress I'll excuse because if you look closely, they made it white wherever the light hits and blue in all of the shadow, just like the film). Hopefully this is foreshadowing a press release for this week (I can't keep waiting, anymore).

Speaking of Cinderella, has anyone seen the new ESPN commercial? To promote the upcoming NCAA Basketball tournament they show a the scene where the clock starts to strike midnight and Cinderella runs away from the prince. Well instead of a glass slipper that comes off her foot a glass sneaker comes off. And as the duke chasers her, Cinderella hopes into a basketball shaped carriage. The end of the ad says without sports there would be no Cinderella in March. Now some may find the ad to be blasphemous, but I feel it's kind of cute and clever.
