Disney books have been discussed in the General Discussion forum before but I was wondering if that is really okay since it says its for Disney movies and DVDs? I mean I don't want to start a new topic and have it moved, that's all.
Plus I was wondering if one day a new forum could be started.... Disney Merchandise, Memorabilia & Collectables which could include anything from Disney books, comics, statuettes and everything else besides DVDs?

If we're adding a new forum, I'd rather see the theme park one first. I don't think there's enough discussion on books and the like to support a whole forum, and they seem to be placed appropriately enough in either GD or OT, depending on the discussion. Of course whether or not we need a new forum at all is up to Luke. As I've said before, you have to weigh what would be cool vs. bandwith and the purpose of this site (Disney DVDs). I trust Luke to make the right call on these sorts of things.
That's just my $0.02, though.

At this point, I think having a new forum would probably kill discussions rather than encouraging them. The General Discussion is for Disney movies and DVDs, but the line is easily blurred. Something about Disney books or memorabilia could really go in either General Discussion or Off-Topic. Breaking General Discussion into lots of different topics (like Theme Parks, Memorabilia) would mean for some people going to additional forums or not going to additional forums. Leaving such discussions in General get them more attention and they're certainly not overrunning the forum. So for the time being, no new forums. But it's definitely something to consider in the future.
There's a DVD forum I sometimes visit that decided to split a separate "Animation" forum from their general "Software" discussion area. As a result, "Animation" discussions have mostly halted. Things that would have been actively discussed about animated films in "Software" are now relegated to the select few who actually take the time to visit "Animation" as well. That's an example of how creating new forums can inhibit discussions rather than encouraging them.
The bandwidth issue is also something to consider. We're already on pace to exceed this month's alotment within two weeks or so.
