Out of print disney dvds!

Post by Andy »

Ok so i know theres a section of UD.com that shows whats going out of print etc. But im interested to know when these will be going out of print?

Sleeping Beauty - Deluxe collectors edition (R2)
Dinosaur - Collectors edition (R2)

I also thought maybe if anyone else needs to know when any dvds will be going out of print they could ask here? Sorry if this has been done before..... :)

Yes but there are a lot of DVDs that are out of print that you can still find in shops. OOP doesn't really mean the same thing in the UK as it does in the US. We aren't as strict! ;)

OOP (Out Of Print) means the same thing in every country, you just need to really know the words...
It means that the studio is not producing this title anymore and that there'll be no more new arrivals in the stores.
But the stores (or websites) keep selling the ones that they still have in their stocks. And it can take a few weeks for them not to have a single copy left.
And weirdly, sometimes, stores or websites still have copies left for an OOP DVD a few years after the official producing end, after some hiatus period... This is what happenned with BATB in amazon.co.uk and even in Frence, a whole bunch of trade mark stores still had the CE of BATB that weirdly reappared out of nowhere last christmas !... and for pretty cheap...!

I think it's boring to collect here in Finland when the DVD:s are available for years without going to OOP, maybe people just don't buy Disney movies here because it seems like we would always have different kind of Disney bargains everywhere. Snow White and Beauty and the Beast has definetely gone OOP, but not the new ones (Lion King for example).

Okay, people who hurry in US to buy a new DVD before it goes Out of Print really hates me now, but it makes the collecting more exciting. ^^;

And the Region 1 set of Sleeping Beauty has also more features than the Region2's :) inclunding a audio commentary by F. Thomas and O. Johnson and movies trailers, among other things... and of course as usual, a nice slipcover "that-open-like-a-book" along with a nice booklet inside the case. :D

That statement is actually not true at all. Here in America, I can still find Snow White, The Lion King, Sleeping Beauty, Tarzan, etc. all movies that have gone into the vault, some, years ago.... :)

I don't think it has a slipcover, at least my copy didn't have when I got it.
