Burton (Corey, that is) aboard Peter Pan prequel

Post by MickeyMousePal »

Source: Moviehole
Caught up with good pal - and voice whiz - Corey Burton ["Anamaniacs"] this morning who says he'll be involved a new "Peter Pan" prequel.

Burton, who voiced the role of Captain Hook in the recent "Return to Neverland", says "Tinkerbell : The Movie", will be a prequel to the events of the original Disney classic.

"I think it's some kind of a "prequel", with
Tinkerbell having a rivalry with one of her fellow fairies", says Burton.

Burton, whose other forthcoming credits include TV's "The Emperor's New School" and "Cinderella 3", says he's also pretty excited to be involved in one of the finest episodes of "Justice League Unlimited" to grace the idiot box in a while.

"I did a few more episodes of Justice League Unlimited, reprising my role as Brainiac. Very cool script in one '2-parter', where Brainiac 'melds' with Lex Luthor (played by the wonderful Clancy Brown, currently
starring in HBO's eerie "Carnivale" series). I loved it - hope it plays as
well with the finished animation, as it seemed to be working in the studio", he says.
Oh, no not Cinderella 3!!!! I like the sound of prequel for Peter Pan with Tinkerbell but another Cinderella sequel please no. Maybe it might be release in the same month like Cinderella: Platinum Edition.

God help us all!!!!!! Are there no original ideas in Hollywood any more? Many studios seem to have the dreaded disease of sequelitis. Disney has it something terrible right now.

Ciderella 3? Oh...... my..... God!!! Have they not learned their lesson yet? Although, it might sell to young girls, which is probably the target audience anyways. I'll probably avoid this one like the plague, as I HATED Cinderella 2 and didn't really like the first one that much (But at least the first one is a classic and great original story)

Disney, stop mass producing sequels just for the heck of it. Put some major thought into your DTVs and people will respect them more. The quality has been going up a lot lately, and I'm quite impressed with the looks of Tarzan 2 and Lilo and Stitch 2. We'll just have to wait and see I guess
Cheers!

Jens will be happy to learn the news : 8) ;)

I think Cinderella 3 will only be a compilation of crappy short stories just like the 2nd was (i didn't see it but it if someone can confirme it was only shorts stories)

Isn't it getting RIDICULOUS? the market is overflooded with sequels and others movies based on a previous flick, come on Bambi2,Lilo2,Tarzan2,Tinkerbell's own wannabe WinXclub movie, Cindy3,Pixar cheap Disney only sequels, the Emperor's New direct to video groove....

Really, i can't wait to see the "New Feature Animation Event" of the year... :x

The reason Cinderella 2 was a collection of stories is because it was not conceived as a sequel. It was the first 3 episodes of a TV series that was never made, so they were edited together to make a sequel. The same applies for Beauty and the Beast 3 and Atlantis 2.

You totally have no human knowledge, do you? As a Disney fan I think you have to stay on a certain neutral position, and that's where I stand and will always stand. I always think Disney will make a good movie, and if they don't... Well, bad luck! Then I just ignore that one and go on to the next! (Example: Tarzan & Jane, Hunchback of the Notre Dame II, ...) Of course, you're not a Disney fan, so you wouldn't understand ;)

Who says? Do you really think they will again make an unfinished Cinderella series for TV and then touch it up a little? I really don't think so... Think about this: Even IF there will be a Cinderella III, at least it will probably be a much better sequel to the original movie than Cinderella II was! The DisneyToon Studios are really improving, and I bet they will suprise us with this new Cinderella sequel too... By the way, I didn't even see Cinderella II and I never want to see it. Do you still think I'm a sequel lover what so ever? I only like SOME sequels, but I can't stand people that go bashing a sequel even before it's released.

Complaining isn't helping actually... I don't really see why people even bother to complain so much about them. Disney will do what's best for THEM commercial-wise, and nothing here or on any other board can do anything about it. Stating an opinion is great and I applaud it every step of the way, but you really aren't going to have much effect with it... Disney is a commercial company and will keep making these very popular sequels as long as the cash rolls in. Just accept it and make the best out of it... And please, it isn't the end of the world! Get on with your life!

Look even though I am against sequels in principal, couldn't you at least give it a chance? I mean it's only just been announced and probably won't be released for another 2-3 years! I mean who knows it may have a story and animation to rival if not beat the original! (It's highly doubtful I know, but come on it's only a couple of weeks since virtually every single person was praising Bambi 2!

I kinda like sequals. I actually like Cinderella 2, and I think a third one would be good. I guess it's all how you look at things. I never expected Cinderella 2 to be anywhere near as good as Cinderella. I don't even put them in the same catagory. So I wasn't disappointed with it.

Some here just doesn't have any sense of humor, anyway, as you said Jens, i'm NT a Disney fan(atic) in your definition, i'm a Disney fan who cares for Walt legacy and the image that today corporation is giving by flooding the market with sequels and unimaginative movies is BAD, ok its good TODAy because it makes money, but speaking of long-terms, it just helps to sink Disney image of quality and art lovers...

Glad to see some of you Can't wait to see Cinderella 3, Disney toon Studios did a great job on Lion King 3 and looks promising on Lilo2 and Bambi2, but you can't say that the future Tarzan2 or even Mulan2 was thumbs up... To be blinded at this point to say that a Cinderella 3 will be good... WHO NEED A Second SEQUEL to the movie? that really sucks...

I do hope that somewhere along the line, they remember that Tinker Bell is two words. Some people might get offended by that!

Do anybody think that it is sad that in a near future, the number of sequels, remakes, direct to videos movies will be MORE than the real great classics such as Snow White or Lion King? Don't you find it disturbing???

Maybe the title of this post should be changed...I assumed TIM Burton would be involved, and that got me really excited!
As for Cinderella 3...I don't really see the sequels.

Yikes! Don't even get me started on the whole Winx Club thing! Even if the Tinker Bell movie thing doesn't end up being the greatest, I'm sure it will be a heck of a lot easier to watch than Winx, and this is coming from a huge "magical girl series" fan! It's not Tink's fault that shoujo is so popular these days.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I feel better now. ;) I'm sure that the Tinker Bell movie could actually be cool. Could you picture it all done in pantomime? The guys at the Toon studio are getting better, you know. . .

Gee, they plan to give tink a voice, That's awful so don't count on something ambitious like a pantonym feature!

And the main motivation for a Tink movie (and the Fairy merchendise line that 'll go together, think of a Princess line bis) IS the success of WinXClub whatever you may think of this cartoon.

Bingo!

*Pulls out diploma and graduation hat, plunks it on KinOO and says in Genie voice* "He can be taught!"

This seems to be the way Disney is heading, more sequels than original movies SEEM to be planned at the moment (I'm not sure if this is the actual case, or I'm just seeing the really bad right now). I have nothing against sequels (except the ones I've seen, which were quite bad), but I think it's ridiculous to base most of your business strategy on them. Come on Disney, lets see some originality, return us to the glory days of animation when the stories were strong and the visuals stronger.

Anyways, my main objection is that Walt would not have approved of this, as he, as stated in someone's signature, has often been quoted as saying that he wouldn't do sequels. And sequels were not done during Walts lifetime
Cheers!

Tink with a voice? No more bells and pantomime? I can feel my heart breaking. :( Would they ever give Dopey a voice?

Ah, I think we can partially thank Sailor Moon for starting off the whole shoujo thing, for better or for worse. Sort of a "girl power gone princess" type thing. For some reason the genre has gotten hugely popular in Italy (I think), where Winx Club and W.i.t.c.h. both have their roots. Now they're being firmly planted in the US, right along-side the Disney Princesses, Barbie, Powerpuff Girls, and even Bratz.

I think Winx has a really cool concept, but the execution leaves much to be desired and gives shoujo a bad rap. Now I'm questioning the Tinker Bell film, but I'm holding off on making any more comments until I have some real material to look at.

Please let it be good. She's one of my favorite characters, after all.
