Lithographs from disneydirect.com

Post by Zombi6422 »

Is it just me or are these Bambi's rather cheap? I notice that on several of these, they seem to have blown up the shot so much that they look all pixelated and have a computer-like blocky look. But none the less, I guess it is better to get free lithographs than nothing :)

They are printed on normal thin paper and they are nothing more than screen shots from the movie enlarged more than they should be which results in bad distortion. My scanner and camera do not pick up on it that much but here is an example.

This jpg is not compressed and you can see how bambi's legs have that weird yellow blocky computerized look on it. I will never buy a preorder from disneydirect again just to get the lithographs because they are not worth it in the least! Luckily I preordered it when I was buying something else so I didn't pay any extra to ship it here otherwise I would have been mad

I think this is the correct thread to post my question... :)

Two questions:
1.) What were the lithographs OFFICIALLY released by DISNEY (you know like..The Incredibles has 4, Bambi has 4, Lilo and Stitch had 4...etc.)? if it's too much to write...sorry for the curiosity.

2.) Pictures? :)

Well, I guess my interest sparked while I was cleaning my room and I came upon my Shark Tale litho (NOOO! don't point the finger at me and yell "traitor"! It was FREE from Circuit City! You swear I'd PAY to actually get a Dreamworks litho! ;)) and I was wondering what are the Disney lithos out there... because don't I own any..!

so..a lil help please. :)
for the record: i am a HUGE DISNEY fan.

..I went and pulled out my stack 'o' lithos just for you...

Now lemme see:

I have (# of lithos in parenthesis):

Bambi (4) (duh, dd.com exclusives)
Lion King (4)
Aladdin (4)
Finding Nemo (4)
Monsters, Inc. (4)
The Incredibles (4)
Brother Bear (4)
Lilo & Stitch (4)
Stitch! The Movie  (1)

I know FOR A FACT that there was a set of Beauty and the Beast lithos (4) and a set of Mulan lithos (only available through Disneydirect.com, those ones) and I'm unsure about how many are in that set.

Well, anytime I ever want lithographs, I go to the Disney Store, considering they show you exactly what they look like, and it isn't a surprise! Sorry about yours though..

Yep. I went to look at the Incredibles ones and they look bad. I actually thought they were a copy, but the lady said they were the actuall ones that you get. Also as a side note, they have a family pic with no Jack-Jack in it. No sale.

I started a thread like this about a year ago, you might want to go search for it. We had quite a list in the end going back to the mid 90s. I think I still have it at home on excel, but I am travelling at the moment.

No, I always got them from the DisneyStore before so I could see them at the time of purchase. Everyone of them has been really nice too.

I'm gonna have to disagree with zombi... I think these lithos are great, and if it weren't for Incredibles being only in fullscreen, I'd be getting them too.

I think there are horrible quality compared to all the others. They looked like they took them before the restoration and blew them up.

Yes, exactly! So you have gotten free lithographs in the past and they were not bad reproductions like these? :x

 Zombi, that's ALL a lithograph is... a blown up picture. You and Grunches must've gotten fake lithos because mine are not pixelated and are in great quality...

So you sugest that Disneydirect has sent out fake lithos?

Well, yeah. Mine are excellent quality and aren't pixelated. If they suggest that you steal from Wal Mart just to get a WS DVD, what makes you think they won't give fake lithos? ;)

How could they send fake lithographs? I understand that a lithograph is nothing more than a larger picture but these lithographs look for instance a scan of a 400x500 pixel blown up to 1200x1400. If you ever mess with imaging programs you know how the image turns out if this is done to it and that is exactly how several of the lithos look. I sent an email to disneydirect on this and I am waiting on hearing what they have to say on this issue cause obviously I am not the only one with this problem. :headshake:
