Well, I just joined...

...and I bought the WDT 4 pak. Now, I just have two questions if someone could help me with.

1) Does this count as four movies toward my commitment, or just one? Although, honestly, it doesn't matter too much. All the movies I'd buy to fill my obligation would be ones I'd end up buying at Best Buy or somewhere anyway.

2) About how long do these shipments take? It said my introductory package would take 4 to 6 weeks to get to me, but they never gave an estimate for the 4 pak.

Oh, and 3) How are the compilation features? Make Mine Music, Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Fun and Fancy Free, and Melody Time? I've never seen any of them (except for a brief excerpt from the Three Caballeros, which was just the song) and I was just wondering how good they were.

Anyway, you guys have always been helpful in the past, so thank you in advance.

1) It should count as 4 commitments. Assuming the standard deal requires you 6, you should just have 2 left, then.

2) They've definitely got faster than they used to be - in general, orders take less than 2 weeks, but I'm not sure if the Treasures set will be a special circumstance. Indianajdp ordered a set too last week, so he can let you know when he receives his.

3) I've only seen Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros and they're hard to consider the same way as the features. Saludos mixes live-action documentary with a few cartoon shorts and Three Caballeros is a mix of live-action and cartoons, but without very much of the documentary stuff. I wrote a review on one of them that you can check out in the Reviews section.

To sum up, I didn't find the two I saw particularly good. But I couldn't really say they're bad, either, because they're really just a sum of parts. I'd only recommend buying them if you're aiming to have a complete Animated Classics collection, which would be kind of cool. They're not really noteworthy outside of Disney's canon, IMO. Others may (and I'm sure, will) differ.

I got my Tins today

I think I placed my order less than a week ago...or maybe a day or two more than a week ago at the most. The really bizarre thing is that I got the Tins BEFORE I even got my initial Club Order.

Anyway, to say this was quick would be a dramatic understatement.

I actually got my first Tin today...it was the Behind the Scenes one. I have B & W and Goofy shipping from various people on eBay (and Dinseyland and Wave 3 on order from Amazon). Not as exciting as all of Wave 1, but still exciting for me...

Now SOMEONE (hint, hint) just needs to sell me their copy of Mickey Mouse in Living Colour (hint, hint) at a reasonable price (hint, hint) and a certain sense of cosmic balance will return to the universe.

Having never had a tin before today, I actually now know the giddy feeling of getting them.

I just wish I was in the US and could take advantage of this deal.

Haven't watched huge chunks of it yet, but the bits and pieces I have seen a good.
The whole Treasures thing is new to me, so it is all so exciting at the moment.
I guess it depends on what you want. If you must have everything Disney, get it (I don't think I'll get Davy Crockett, for example). I guess the Reluctant Dragon was the seller for a lot of people.

I think you can get Goofy for about $40 from most dealers on eBay. There seemed to be about 6 copies at that price when I bought mine.
Color, on the other hand, were all $80+. Blah!

I know this sounds ridiculously impossible, but it's true.
We picked up the package last night at the Post Office and on the way I was telling my daughter that we would be avble to watch Treasure Planet now, as it was one of my initial club orders (she loves that movie and she's only three). So I get the box and I'm thiking...this is a bit too heavy for just those three movies. Sure enough, it's the Tins.

Mike I hope you can get yours that quickly too, but I'm so amazed by this turnaround I can't possible fathom that it is always that fast.

Loomis, I definitely don't need to get everything Disney (I refuse to buy any cheapquels, for example). But I've always, ever since I was six and saw The Making of The Little Mermaid, loved behind the scenes animation stuff. I still remember being fascinated that one of tghe big breakthroughs on animating Ariel was that her hair had to constantly move because she was underwater (don't remember the animator that was talking about it, as I was only six at the time. Glen Keane maybe?). It was one of those epiphany moments, and my love for animation was born. Anyway, long answer to a question you didn't ask in the first place: I'm sure I'll get Behind-the-Scenes, it's just a matter of when. Probably not until next month as I gave the ol' credit card a good workout buying the first wave of Treasures.

Indianajp (mind if I call you Indy? It's so much shorter to type), I simply can't wait to get my tins. I'm most curious about Silly Symphonies because I've seen so few, but know that there was just so much spectacular animation in it, I'm almost afraid it won't live up to my expectations. And I'm really excited that I'm getting my favorite Disney short on MMiLC (At least I think I am). It's the one where Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are together in this trailer and harvest corn in the fields as they drive by, milk a cow, and Goofy nearly drives them off the rod, if I remember correctly. To this day I cite when I get into arguments about the proper way to eat corn (you're supposed to eat it like a typewriter, one end to the other, then reset it). Don't know too much about the other two, but I'm sure they'll be plenty illuminating, particularly Davy Crockett since I know next to nothing about it.

I'm only 31...not old enough to have been around when these originally aired back in the 1950s...and I absolutely love it. It is by far my favorite Tin, and that's saying a lot since every one of them is fantastic.

I still do not have my initial order I placed when I joined the Disney Club. I'm not at all complaining about the turnaround time since it's just been over a week, but I find it funny that I got my second order before I received my opening order.

Hell, I got the Tins before I even received confirmation they were shipping.

I got my confirmation that my 4 pak shipped today. So, it should be here soon (hopefully, of course I've just jinxed it, but whatever). And I got the shipping confirmation for my intro package day before yesterday, so I'll be getting 7 new dvds in the next few days (again hopefully, blah blah).

Call them. When I joined, I waited for months for my first shipment. I eventually got tired of waiting and called them, it turned out they lost my information and they rushed the DVDs out quickly after that. So, call them to confirm your order.

Wow, you're lucky Indy. Mine still haven't come in. Although, they've both shipped, according to the club, so hopefully they'll get here soon. But now this puts me in something of a dilemma. I already have MM in B&W, but I don't have Behind-the-Scenes or Complete Goofy. Should I wait for a similar deal on the second set of Treasures, or should I just go and get them off eBay?

Tough question.

I guess if you don't have the patience to do so (and I'm not sure I would) go ahead and start looking at eBay auctions. If you CAN wait, it could be another year or so until they do this for Wave 2 -- Based on how long it took them to offer this for Wave 1.

Then again you never know. They could have such an overwhelming response to this offer they could quickly follow it up with a Multi-Pack for Wave 2.

Complete Goofy is somewhat hard to find and getting expensive on e-bay. If you get closer to Christmas, it will go up in price. I've seen Behind the Scenes on several internet sites for a reasonable price, meaning you can still get copies from sites such as buy.com (still in stock) or deepdiscountdvd.com (in stock I believe). If I were you, I would get Behind the Scenes now and then work on Goofy on ebay for around 40 dollars. Hope that helps.

Also, when the next wave of tins come out , I would get them quick. Budget, budget, budget!!!!
