BECKS SET TO BE HERO

David Beckham is set to become Superbecks - as an all-action cartoon hero.

The England captain is to appear in a Disney animation in which he displays fantastic powers on the pitch and unreal ones off it.

.
.
.

According to The Sun, 26 episodes of Allstar Striker could be shown in 150 countries, earning the Spanish club £18m.

A club source said: "Superhero Becks has huge potential. We want it to be bigger than The Simpsons."
I give up. :x

Aren't Disney supposed to be creating their own characters and 'brands'?

I still want a Team Atlantis cartoon series dammit. :x

The irony there is that The Simpsons decided NOT to use Becks recently because he wasn't famous enough in the US. :D

Maybe this is his revenge?

I thought they decided not to use him as he talks in a funny high-pitched squeaky voice. They didn't want anyone thinking he Professor Frink by mistake.

Exactly my point? Who knows him outside the UK, and people interested in soccer/former Spice Girls.

He is a famous English soccer player, Poco (I think he plays for a Madrid club now though....but you are asking the wrong person fpr details here). He is also married to "The Incredible Disappearing" Victoria Beckham (aka Posh Spice of the Spice Girls).

They are supposedly England's most famous couple...outside all of the other famous couples.

See! Beckham means nothing to Amercian audiences, NOTHING! Only to the British, but we are getting him anyway due to the British cultural domination of the world! Beckham means as much here as Michael Jordan means in Britain. People who went to see Bend It Like Beckham only went to see it to see the PotC girl, but they went and saw yet another example of British culture dominating our cinemas!

Actually they have 2 kids - Brooklyn (supposedly named after where he was concieved) and Romeo (supposedly named for a joke).

They are in every paper over here at least every other day - David this, David that, Victoria this, Victoria that. You can't escape from them. YOU CAN'T ESCAPE THEM! And they just get more and more money as more and more people want them to sponsor their products. David does Vodaphone, Victoria does crisps, David and Victoria do Marks and Spencers, Brooklyn does Mothercare. A couple of million here, a couple of million there. Forget the house of Windsor in Buckingham Palace, the Beckhams in Beckingham Palace are the new Royal Family for the UK.

David Beckham, David Beckham, David Beckham, It's all I ever hear. David Beckham, David Beckham, David Beckham.

DAVID BECKHAM I want to scream!

Sorry Rant over now.

Then why don't you move over to the US and not hear about David Beckham!!!!

Unfortunately, Soccer is not one of the fav. sports here, especially down south where I am. Football and Baseball rule. Basketball comes in around third here. Except for Baylor, where Basketball is gone.

Becks is already a hero to his millions of fans so I'm not suprised he's about to be made a Disney hero too. Good on him. He's a fantastic footballer with a wonderful life and I hope he enjoys it. He's earned it.

Because then I'd just hear about Ben and Jen all the time instead. :)

Reading the full article, I don't think Disney intends to make the cartoon for US audiences. But I suppose it will still be shown over there. I think it's mainly for viewing on European stations.

And hey, as least it will be 2D! :)
