Disney is expensive cause is a brand name. Disney Store do have sells usually at the end of every seasons and during the season too. They have promotions with preorders or when you spend a stated amount of $$. Disney DVD's don't stay in print for the reason that it builts up demand for the tittle that way they don't end up in the $5.88 sale racks or selling for 2/$12 like dreamwork trash.

Disney has a lot of stuff that is overly expensive, but highly collectible. It's just the way things have been since...well...always I guess. Disney DVDs, IMO, are not one of those ticket items that are too expensive. You can ussually get fresh DVD releases at the Disney Store (or online at Disney.com) for $19.99 or so, depending on the release.
As for the moratorium of certain titles, it doesn't bother me at all. If I'm going to buy the movie I'll get it fairly quickly, so limited-time-issues don't affect me. Those that feel the pinch, unfortunately, are the people that either wait too long to get a title or live in rural areas without convenient access to a standard B&M store like BestBuy, Wal-Mart, etc. They have to rely on online stores or eBay and we all know what happens to OOP Disney DVDs on eBay.

Yup, that pretty much sums it up.MickeyMouseboy wrote: Disney is expensive cause is a brand name.
They charge because they can.
There is always going to be a solid fan base (this forum is a testament to that) who will buy at any price.
Doesn't make it right.
But then again other equally valid questions:
Why do I buy designer jeans when I could just as easily buy K-mart ones?
Why is the sky blue?
Why do English people think they are attractive?
It's all economics....

oh so thats the reason why disney pulls their titles
I was wondering too why Disney, put its animated discs on hold. Its because they dont want to see their titles sell for 2 or 3 bucks. However their are used dvd/video stores where you could buy them for a little over that price though.

Return of the King is coming, are you ready?
