Vault Disney goes Treasure?

Post by MickeyMouseboy »

i read on VB magazine.

ok i have this magazine and it had and article about brands that dont work and they talk about Disney's Vault collection, and how it didnt appeal to the customer since it wasnt a success and it went on saying how Disney will use its Walt Disney Treasures line (Since the tin Can case appealed and made the brand known to consumers) to release its older Live action so we might be seen more Walt Disney Treasures? i hope so!

i totally get that magazine too! i read the article the other day and was wondering if this is disney's new medium for distributing movies? they talked about how disney is developing a new technology that will allow you to download movies onto your tv a la satellite or something. hey, if i can get a digital copy of darby o'gill and flight of the navigator i'll be happy. hopefully they can distribute the oldies faster than they have been and gearing the demographic towards adults (i.e. widescreen copies) because let's face it, we're the ones buying the classic movies and sharing them with our families and friends anyway.
i think some of the execs at disney may have the wrong impression about themselves.....they are NOT a kid company, they are a family company. spending money on dvd features like "set top games" which probably get played only once or twice by kids and then forgotten, could be better spent on tv shows or something. wouldn't you rather see the ducktales cartoon about when they go back in time to see the dinosaur kid (what's his name....always called him "Scooge") on disney's Dinosaur dvd than the multiple set top games? that kinda stuff could be enjoyed by kids and adults again and again. leave the set top games to disney interactive. they could release whole dvds devoted to set top games from different themed films etc. also, let's get this trailer business taken care of too. i'd like to see an original theatrical trailer on every dvd. it doesn't even have to be a widescreen trailer, just something that was played in theaters. at this point, so many dvds are without them that i would definitely buy a dvd consisting ONLY of disney theatrical trailers (ooooh, good idea. it's entertaining and advertising in itself. people would be paying to watch disney advertisements. i wonder if it would sell....).
woa, where did that come from? i never rant, but every once in a while it just builds up and finally bursts. if anyone from disney reads this, please feel free to take all my ideas to mr. eisner himself.

p.s. i just got my disneyworld cast member newspaper and it looks as though Animal Kingdom is getting a new mountain in Asia (i forget the name of it now). it will be a roller coaster with a storyline about the yetti and an expedition to mt. everest. if anyone wants more info, email me and i'll let them know. it opens in 2006. shhhhhhh!! ; )

If that does happen, I wouldn't be too fond of it. Why? Because the amounts of different tins made and copies made would increase, making it harder to collect them all, and raise the cost of movies by atleast 5 dollars a dvd.
