Post by Flower's Friend »

In the movie Bambi when Bambi is an adult his Father tells him that man is here again. Then there is a scene with some birds. One of the bird is saying I can't stand it I just can't stand it I got to fly one of the other birds says no don't fly. But she flies anyway you hear a gunshot and she falls dead.

Anyways can anyone tell me what kinda of bird that was

It's a pheasant. What I really love about this scene is that Walt Disney lifted it, dialogue and all, straight from Felix Salten's book. It's an exquisite piece of work that really shows the horror of man's inhumanity to his fellow creature. There's also another scene that Disney took from the book..it's the one where you see two maple leaves left dangling on a branch. In the book, the leaves are having a conversation with one another about how they've seemed to lost their lovely green color and how cold it's gotten when one of them breaks off the branch in mid-sentence and floats to the forest floor. Moments later, the other one follows, and this in turn signals the start of winter. In the film, even though the dialogue is no longer there, he still uses that nifty bit of imagery to convey the change of one season to the next. I'm sure Eisner would've considered something as poetic as that nothing but a waste of good money and time.

question about 2 scenes from the Bambi Movie

Post by Flower's Friend »

" Listen He's coming " Says the first bird " Hush be quiet " says of the other 2 birds " he's coming closer " says the first bird " stay calm don't get excited " says one of the other 2 birds " we better fly " says the first bird " No,no don't fly, whatever you do don't fly " says one of the other 2 birds. " He's almost here, I can't stand it any longer " says the first bird and she flies. you hear gunshot she falls dead. This was one scene.

here is the other scene , Its still winter and its still snowing, but winter will not be much longer because Bambi's mother says " Bambi,Bambi come here " " Look " Bambi smiles " New Spring Grass " says the mother " They start eating the grass, as they are eating the grass your hear danger sounding music Bambi's mother get's worried and she starts looking around she says " Bambi quick the thicket " they both start running and then you hear a gunshot as they are running Bambi's mother says " Faster, Faster Bambi, don't look back, keep running, keep running " Then you hear another gun shot. A

After Bambi has run a while he says " We made it, we made it mother " We_ " " Mother ? " " mother " " mother where are you ? " " mother ? " " mother? " " mother ? " " mother ? " " mother " and then he starts crying all the sudden he stops, cause he is startled by what he sees while he says " huh ! " he see's a stag. The Stag says " your mother can't be with you anymore " Bambi closes his eyes and bow's his head. After he lift's up his head and open's his eyes the stag says " come my son " and Bambi follow's his Father.

I understand these are very dark scenes but I am doing a review for the movie Bambi and I want people to think hard about the animals we share the planet with. One reason I like Bambi so much is it does not sugar-coat the poison, Felix Salten and Walt Disney told it like it was in both the book and the movie. I wanted to ask very big fans of the movie if I got these 2 scenes right word for word or if for some reason I did not since it would be close enough if it will be just as good for the review.

Yes, these two are correct, but with the birds in the brush scene, set the scene, like this:

All the animals are being chased by man. While the animals are running, you see a group of pheasants run into the brush. In the brush they are huddled together and very quiet, except one who is extemely frightened and paranoid, she says....

(You know, I alway's thought that this scene was even darker than the death of Bambi's mother, because you see more denial, slight insanity, somewhat scarier music, and finally, you see the dead body of the bird, which I think is very disturbing.)

I hope this helps

what's funny about that scene is that no remembers it. everyone remeber's Bambi's mom getting shot but not the pheasant. I know B's Mom had way more screentime but still you think someone would remember that.

What do you all think of my Bambi review so far

Post by Flower's Friend »

The most advanced technology has been used to bring you an all new digital restoration of the film with enhanced picture and sound. . It took 9,600 hours of work to touched up over 110,000 frames all by hand. Also purist will be glad that the Original theatrical soundtrack has been restored.

This is Disney 5th Platinum dvd edition with spectacular bonus features.
1. Inside Walt's Story meetings is close to an audio commentary only its better. You see most of the film, but also see artwork form the film as well as clips from other cartoons shorts and feature films. The commentary is a reenactment that walt had with his filmarkers in the production of bambi. There is even a person who sounds like Walt Disney himself. It runs for about 70 min.
2. A 53 min feature on the making of Bambi that covers the story, characters, actors, art design, music, and history of the film. Among the many interesting things in this feature you will hear how a book by Felix Salten became a Disney film twenty years later.

3. hear interesting facts about real life forest animals that helped inspire some of the main characters.
4. A virtual forest feature where you can bring sights and sounds of the forest right into your home with grand sound and picture.
5. browse through about 150 photo's 6. see 2 Deleated Scenes, 7.watch the original theatrical trailer from 1942, 8. take a look at Bambi 2 The great prince of the forest. and more

I am not sure if I want to number these features or not and I believe there are some typing errors ect. But wanted to know what you all thought about my review so far. I am going to post it on amazon and trying to give information about this Dvd edition that amazon does not give. I looked at some different websites to try to get the best information about the Dvd edition since that is what people will wish to know.

Anyways if you think there is something else I should add or cut out let me know your opinions. Or if some things I should go over in more detail or less detail or whatever. I am the most curious if I explained Inside Walt's story meeting well and in a way that makes sense ? Oh and I do talk about the story a little bit, but I mainly am asking if I am covering the special features for this Dvd Edition well and in a way that makes sense lol ??

Flower's friend, you are aware that there is a "Post Reply" button, right? You don't have to start a new thread with every one of your posts.

I think any extra information you give to Amazon customers will help them along. One of the best ways to do this might be to link to UltimateDisney.com's Bambi review at the bottom of your review. :)

Well, it's a little bit bizarre to read it because you only listed some stuff and didn't tell your own opinion on anything.

Also, just so you know, Amazon's new practice doesn't display reviews of DVDs until they are actually released.

Yes I know there is a reply but this was a different topic. I do talk about why I like the movie but did not put that last part here because I was just asking for opinion on the information about the Dvd that I covered. I did not post my whole review
