Anyone ever seen Steven Sondheim's Into The Woods? Up until this week, I had never even heard of it. I had the opportunity to see it performed live tonight by the Carolina Company and it was AMAZING! It's right up the alley of any Disney fan, too. Even if I hadn't known it was Sondheim prior to seeing it, it screams his style, which I've loved since I first saw Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street performed live 5 years ago. I plan on getting the soundtrack and the DVD!

I'm hoping to see this when it comes to Stratford this season.

INTO THE WOODS!!! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THIS MUSICAL!
I saw a snippet of it during the honors student breakfast way back in 7th grade. Our school was doing Into the Woods for the school musical and they performed the song "Into the Woods" and I really liked it. I've seen the DVD only at Sam Goody and it's 29.99....a little too much for me. Anyhow, I really would love to see it and the storyline sounds awesome! Something about a baker and his wife and they have to get all this stuff and they go "into the woods" which is where all the fairy tale ppl pass through, etc. Don't tell me anymore! I hope the company comes to our community's performing arts center. Recently, we've had Fiddler on the Roof. I only got to see the first act, but it was awesome! "If I were a rich man...something something russian or yiddish something..."
I saw a recording with the original Broadway cast in my Humanities class senior year of high school. I loved it! I'm still waiting for the chance to see it on stage. Now with the revival running on Broadway (I think it's still there), there's always the hope that there will be a touring production that will come to town. But, alas, nothing yet.

I'd love to see the revival cast on Broadway as well, though I listened to some of the soundtrack in Barnes & Noble and quite frankly wasn't impressed, especially when compared to the original cast, the London cast, and even the cast I saw live.

Well, Vanessa Williams can hardly compare to Bernadette Peters.
