Design your OWN Disney Treasures Tin!

My tin will be called FRONTIERLAND! A perfect compliment to the Tomorrowland set, this will be a blend of fiction and documentary relating to everybody's favorite land.

1. First up, is WESTWARD HO, THE WAGONS a 1956 feature starring Davy Crockett himself, FESS PARKER, along with other Disney favorites including Mousketeers Tommy Cole and Cubby O'Brien, Sebastian Cabot and many familiar faces. You'd have to include this movie in my FRONTIERLAND tin if for no other reason than they already released all the Davy Crockett movies, but here you still get Fess Parker...

2. Animated Shorts: "Little Hiawatha," "Windwagon Smith," Donald Duck in "Grand Canyonscope," and at least 2 or 3 more would be nice.

3. A Wonderful World of Disney episode from the early 60s. It seems that when westerns were TOO popular circa 1960, WWofD turned briefly into a western anthology itself! You could pick any of the better episodes circa 1959-1961 and include it on this disk. Everybody has their own favorite, so I won't specify any particular film. There's probably about 80 episodes that were westerns.

4. Behind-the-scenes footage/Making-of footage. They should include the brief clip of Fess Parker and Buddy Ebsen at the opening ceremonies (the entire episode is on the Disneyland, USA tin). I also recall seeing a documentary on the making of the original Mine Train ride (this was AGES ago). I don't know if that documentary was part of WWofD or what, but I'm sure the footage exists. It would be nice to have a look at that ride one more time.

5 . For the set's grand finale we have THE GOLDEN HORSESHOE REVUE starring Annette, Ed Wynn and of course the actual cast of the long-running Disneyland attraction. This film was "released" 9/23/1962 as part of the Wonderful World of Disney (or was it the Wonderful World of Color that year?) and was also re-released to theaters.

This may sound really bizarre, but it would be nice for Disney to do a Winnie the Pooh Treasures set. Not the tacky Pooh we are forced to see these days, but a nostalgic Pooh focussing on him and his impact during the sixties and seventies. The Pooh shorts would feature on the set as stand alone shorts as opposed to being part of The Many Adventures of... and there would be reconstructions of some of the book and tapes/records. Plus, it could sell quite well as Pooh is Disney's most popular.

I've also got this idea that some of the Anthology films would go down better as Treasure sets as opposed to normal DVDs. I know that Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros had a special edition laserdisc, so a bit of porting over could easily spell instant tin!

I don't mean to sound like I'm blabbing on, but it would be pretty cool if there was a new form of Treasures called the Disney Cinema Collection featuring proper feature films that wouldn't go down so well as normal SEs (due to being less popular). The Black Cauldron, The Sword in the Stone and possibly the DVD debut of Song of the South could feature. And hopefully, this Cinema Collection would go to England first.

I'm definitely of the mind that Walt Disney Treasures is THE way to get Song of the South finally released in the U.S. It is definitely one of the titles that most lends itself to the treatment that the "Treasures" get. (And I'd even be able to stand the Leonard Maltin disclaimer if I could finally get a nice digital copy of this film!)

I've often wondered if they've got enough old interviews and interesting featurettes about the Nine Old Men to make a tin devoted to them... They could put Frank and Ollie's movie on their to sweeten the deal.

That's a great idea and a great pairing! I would certainly love to see more bonus features on the Black Cauldron.

This Treasure would contain all or most of the educational Disney shorts. I guess it would be like the proposed Assorted Treasures but would be set up for different areas of learning.

There'd be different menus dealing with Mathematics, History, Literature, Health, etc...It would have stuff like Donald in Mathmagicland, Ben and Me, those Jiminy Cricket shorts, and for Literature, I guess The Truth about Mother Goose since it well, told kids the truth about nursery rhymes. Does anyone know of any other shorts that could be included?

Yes, and then we would have the original voice of Christopher Robin, instead of the re-dubbed one in The Many Adventures.

My First set would be called <b>"Television Greats"</b><br><br>
This set would include great tv movies made by Disney like:<br><br>
<b>Child of Glass</b>- A Story about a boy and his family who move into a house with lots of history including a ghost.<br>
<b>The Ghost of Buxley Hall</b>- Victor French stars in this film as one of many Civil War ghosts who come alive from paintings and help boys at a miltary academy.<br>
<b>Escapade In Florence</b>- another film with Tommy Kirk and Annette Funicello about a boy who gets involved in a mystery with a painting.<br>
<b>Mystery in Dracula's Castle</b>- While making an amateur film, two boys and their dog come upon jewel thieves in a lighthouse (starring Johnny Whitaker from Snowball Express).<br>
<b>The Prince and the Pauper</b>- The classic story starring Guy Williams.<br<br>
There are lots more I could list, but these are my top five!

"Disney Shows", featuring excerpts of (or full) assorted disney shows at Disneyland, like "Fantasmic" or other old disneyland stage based spectacles; "disney on ice", animal kingdom plays, parades, and why not? they should include the whole "Beauty and the Beast" and "Lion King" Broadway shows in this collection, and lots of features about Disney at the stages, like clothing design, outakes, scenography.... excerpts of "the hunchback of Notredame" and "Mary Poppins" European shows, etc.

They could do a Wonderful World of Disney tin, but there's SOOOOO many movies to put on it. It would be endless. Has anyone speculated on themed boxed sets of those films? They made several hundred films for tv and many, many of them are memorable and deserve to be collected.
