VeggieTales

Post by Captain Hook »

Does anyone else like VeggieTales? I actually kind of like it, surprisingly. I just saw the Jonah movie. Very good.

They're pretty good. My daughter usually sit through them (esp the Ultimate Silly Sings Countdown). Have yet to see the Jonah movie but I'm sitting on a Free DVD from Columbia House so I might send the coupon in and get that DVD for her.

Go get it! It's really fun. It's one movie that is not Disney that I've actually considered buying.

yeah i like veggie tales. they are really funny. when i was young i would watch veggie tales. i saw Jonah in theaters with my younger cousins and there was a couple of jokes that made me laugh, some which were from Monty Python (anyone wants to slap fishes?). the outtakes on the DVD are really funny. i think this is the only CGI film so far that has outtakes at the end but is not made by PIXAR. also when hearing an audio commentary on the film, Larry the Cucumber and Mr. Lunt said when they were looking for a distributor for the film, they went to Disney but Disney told them that Disney was working a little "stitch" and they were also working on a movie which had Long John Silver in space and they were thinking about calling it "Hush Puppies in Space" of animation humor, Veggie Tales come at number 3 on my list.

Off-topic, but they actually sent you the DVD coupons for your freebies? Was this from the code that postpones 3 of the enrollments to after fulfillment? Or was it from referring a friend?

I'm supposed to have 3 coupons, but they didn't enclose them, and I'd rather mail it in than deal with their phone people and their pitches.

And it's worth getting the Jonah DVD just for the Larry and Lunt commentary where they go on about Wire Removal, Tom Cruise and Minority Report.

I've haven't laughed as hard all year.

The coupon was sent after I fulfilled my membership agreement.
It says to choose one title from the enclosed brochure...but thtose titles were junk so I chose another $19.95 title from the website.

Mine said something like "See the enclosed 3 certificates for your bonus titles." Of course, nothing was inside. Guess if they don't send them soon, I'll just use the phone.

VeggieTales is great stuff, but the Jonah movie is outstanding. 2099net, that commentary IS hilarious, isn't it?

Jonah rocks! I haven't heard the commentary though... it seems I'm really missing out! Oh well. I'll borrow it from my neighbors.

Oh, and can anyone tell me - was Veggie Tales a TV series or was it just a movie series? Hope that makes sense.

Veggie Tales is a video series. sometimes Veggie Tales will come on TV as a special like in some cities, people could have seen The Star of Christmas on their local PBS station. it came on 3 times as far as i know on DirecTV. one was a special with 3 of the Veggie Tales videos. the second special showed an episode of Veggie Tales, Larry Boy, and 321 Penguins. the 3rd special was a christmas episode, a Larry Boy short, and a 321 Penguins. the only Veggie Tales that has appeared this year is probably just Jonah on Pay-Per-View.

Whata Funny Topic

Post by jayaraiza »

I had no idea what the Veggie Tales was all about till my mom told me i should buy my boys the Silly Song Count Down. So i bought it and took it home and my kids werent even interested so we popped it right bk out and put it away w/ the rest of my inhumanly large DVD collection (not only am i a crazy Disney freak, I'm also an avid DVD collector) OK so a year later my youngest is 2 and my oldest is 7 and my oldest son says to pop it in, i was like, "Pick another movie." But he assures me i would love it. So we popped it in and OH MY GOODNESS!!! My 2 year old just Loved it. So guess what ? No more Dust film on the Veggie tales DVD. LOL. Not only that but holy Moly!!! Atleast 5-6x's a week for the past 6 months that darn DVD gets played. Me and my husband constantly catch eachother singing those darn songs. My hubby favors The Cheeseburger son. It's a close tie between Barbra Manity and The I love My Lips son for me.

yeah i like the Silly Songs with Larry. my favorites are Larry's Tall Silk Hat, and the Dance of the Cucumber ("Like butter on a bald monkey). i also like His Chesseburger. somehow i never knew Mr. Lunt was a very good singer. but of all of the Veggie Tales songs, my favorites mostly come from the Jonah movie (Billy Joe McGruffy, Second Chances, and In the Belly of the Whale - performed by Newboys)

I just really connected with the Pirate song, it's hillarious! But I liked most of them anyway. They are all funny.

A little Off-topic, but does anyone have a list of the complete series? I think I might start picking them up after I get my fill of Disney this year.
