Cinderella Platinum Edition

orestes.
I'm looking forward to this too, well a little. Cinderella wasn't one of my favourites but I'll get it. Bambi is the one I'm most looking forward to from Disney besides this year's Treasures.
Oh and I think the Studio Ghibli movies rate even higher than Bambi.
That 'cover' just looks like a promotional poster so I'm sure it'll change or how often do those promos actually turn out the same as their poster? I think it's just filling in for now.

Well, a couple of specs have leaked out that you can see on the main page:
I know that this is a very very small fraction of what will end up on the DVD, but this is not the note I wanted the specs to start out on. The Cinderella moments thing (despite being inevitably fluffy) admittedly sounds interesting, and if they aim their focus on mature celebrities and not teeny boppers, this can be a very classy feature, indeed. The other two features, though, make me worry that because this is the ultimate of the Disney princess films, that the DVD will cater to little girls. I honestly don't care how much kiddie features are on the DVD as long as there's tons of meat for us film fans. Hopefully the DVD will be very in-depth and these couple of specs leaked out simply to grab families' attention first (as usual). Complete specs shouldn't be too far off, though we know that Disney's press releases rarely list all there is to offer....a look at great Cinderella moments where artists, entertainers and other people have overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams", a featurette on the world of royalty and castles, and a room make-over feature.

I hope you are right, but I can't stop thinking about the same thing....room makeover.....Disneykid wrote:Well, a couple of specs have leaked out that you can see on the main page:

The announcement of the "Cinderella Moments" thing sounds like a return to the type of features like "Disney Through the Decades" and "The Story Behind the Story" on Snow White & Beauty and the Beast. They may be fluffy, but I found the previous two celebrity-laden features to be quite entertaining, so I admit I'm looking forward to Cinderella's. Obviously, the room makeover is aimed at kids, and I think the featurette on medival times is probably for them too.
I wouldn't worry about getting some meaty making-of material. No 2-Disc set of a Walt-era film has been without it. It may not measure up to Snow White, but then again, are we really expecting it to?

Those looking for a preliminary look at the Cinderella Platinum cover can head on over to the FAQ page and see a small version of it on the timeline of PEs. Maybe Luke will post a bigger version on here?
What do you say Luke?

This was from the Disney Database. This is my second favorite, and the one Luke posted on the F.A.Q.s.....

Onos, that was only my second favorite release cover.
Shoulda used the one with the pumpkin coach, Disney!
Anyway, a room makeover? Eh... interesting, yeah. It might just be a little promo featuring Cinderella bedsheets, lamps, and whatnot from the Disney Store. Not really my thing. Just give me a nice helping of meat and potatoes though and I'll be a relatively happy camper.

Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.
Personally, this cover's my favorite:

Here are the other ones since it seems most people weren't around when they were posted back in the summer:

Although having Cinderella and the Prince dancing worked for the Masterpiece VHS, having them take up only half of the DVD cover doesn't work because it takes the focus away from Cinderella. The first one matches the other Platinums far better in style by having her be the most dominant character on the cover (yeah, they cheated with Aladdin, but since Disney practically considers Genie to be the star, at least they made him dominant).

Very, very true! I completely forgot about that one and I LOVE it! That, is my favorite! I was thinking the same thing while looking at the picture I posted- The Prince is the dominant character, not Cinderella!Disneykid wrote:Personally, this cover's my favorite:

That wasn't the official cover, but I guess Luke just decided to use that one!Mermaid Kelly wrote:just wondering....how do we know that the one with the glass slipper is the one that Disney picked?.......or is that not a definate yet?

It's not definite, yet. Actually, the most definitive one is the one with the carriage on it (and Cindy and the Prince at the top). That cover appeared in the promo booklet inside Aladdin's DVD, though I expect drastic changes between now and October.Mermaid Kelly wrote:just wondering....how do we know that the one with the glass slipper is the one that Disney picked?.......or is that not a definate yet?

It's not fake, actually. It was part of the same group of covers as the others, but I didn't include it in my post because I'm 100% sure that it won't be used. The reason that cover is on so many bootlegs (and why I'm 100% it won't be officially used) is because that's simply the 80's re-issue poster with the new logo and banner slapped onto it. I have no idea why Disney considered basing a cover off of it, but apparantly they did.
I like all of the covers, but to be honest I'm not to particular about the cover as long as the movie is good.
As far as the bonus features go, I think they sound cute, and I alsoe think there will be some more behind the scenes stuff on there. What I would really like to see is all of the trailers, like they did for Snow White. That was my favorite part of the Snow White dvd(other than the actual movie) getting to see all of them, not just the first one.
