Well I am really anticipating this DVD, hopefully we outside North America will finally be able to own a copy of the film in widescreen!

I had the current release but I sold it an ebay about amonth ago, because I knew this was coming next March so I though I'd better get rid of it at the right time, to get a good price for it before people realise that a 2 disc is coming, I got a handsome amount for it too!

I hadn't actually watched the film in 2 years, so I will really look forward to it, and because LatT is usually consider to be more of an 'adult' movie, perhaps it will be devoid of the Bambi 'fluff' a.k.a 'crap'.

I'm really shocked to see that Disney, have not taken advantage of the fact that this year is LatT 50th Anniversary! :?

Who knows, maybe it will get a limited theatre release sometime this year! It's highly doubtful though!

Wow, people sound so disappointed and angry at Lady and the Tramp. In my personal opinion, LatT is a great film with beautiful animation and a satisfying love story. Lady and the Tramp needs a serious restoration though, and I hope is shown in its beautiful cinemascope version. I'm happy with the decision, and I hope it gets an Aladdin-type of treatment on its Platinum debut. I read many people saying that Lady and the Tramp is a slightly short movie running about an hour and fifteen minutes. Some of you saying is too short for yourselves?? Well let me inform you that The Little Mermaid is exactly 1 hour 14 minutes and 50 seconds without counting credits, thus making it the same as Lady and the Tramp.

I think it's a great movie and shouldn't be hated by anyone just cuz it took Mermaid's spot. But hey, think about it, maybe Disney will have more time to restore The Little Mermaid and gather as many extras as they can, and the anticipation will grow larger.

Even though this is a L&T thread:

Some of you, please note that there is no "o" in the word "dalmatian".

You've been good for a long time, but now it starts to slip...

LatT hasn't taken tLM's spot, The Little Mermaid has not been moved from its October 2006 slot. LatT will be coming in March, something we have known for moths since BVHE UK listed it's future releases up till 2011. It's just now we've had the official confirmation.

I am soooooo glad about this decision! :D
But can someone explain to me what you are talking about, how long will it be until Sleeping Beauty is released again? As i was going to buy the deluxe collectors edition but if theres a newer version coming then i'll wait for that.
Also for some strange reason i want Fantasia lol, and the 2000 one. So when are they getting released again?? :)

I'm quite happy that Lady and the Tramp is coming. I want Little Mermaid much more but I think I'll be able to wait. Too bad though, i'm going to disney world again in spring of 2006 and i was hoping to purchase little mermaid there...but it will be out for christmas:) i'll proabably end up buying LATT, even though it's not a favourite of mine. atleast cinderella is coming in october!

I'm happy either way. Of course I would have preferred TLM to get the earlier release, but October is a mere 7 months away from March so it isn't... that bad. Not worth shedding tears over, anyway.

Plus, Lady and the Tramp was a cute film and since I couldn't get the Limited Issue DVD, I will be getting the PE edition and enjoying it for quite a while (probably will not get any other edition when they eventually get released, though). ^^
Wherever. Whatever. Have a nice day.

Andy, get the current Sleeping Beauty. It's pretty much like a platinnum edition, and is going out of print soon. It's going to get re-released in 2010 (or so I've heard), so unless you really want to wait that long for a similar release, go and buy the Deluxe Edition. Oh, and Fantasia won't be getting re-released until 2011 or so. Don't worry, I missed out on it, too, despite being tempted to buy it in the 2004 Janurary sales.

Ichabob - about your signature. Lord Baden Powell died in 1941. I dont think he was very influenced by Walt Disney's version of the Jungle Book.

Well, I don't believe this surprised anyone, right? It's just a confirmation from what we had already heard.

Anyway, "Lady and the Tramp" may not be among my absolute favorites, but I think it is one of Disney's most charming and technically perfect movies. The quality of the Limited Issue release is pretty good, but I'm sure the movie will look breathtaking with a new restoration and anamorphic enhancement. I also hope they include the reframed version of the film released in 1955 (there is a great topic over the international forum on the subject). I'm also really looking forward for a docummentary on how they produced the first CinemaScope animated feature ever, since cinematography is one of the aspects of movies that interest me the most.

I don't expect "Lady and the Tramp" to be a lavish release as "Snow White", but a simpler yet with quality bonus features as "Bambi".

Oh I can't wait. :) The Lady and the Tramp PE is the platinum I've been anticipating the most. It's one of my favourite Disney classic and even though it's been announced it is is coming it's not soon enough. :P

The Little Mermaid is cool and all but it doesn't rank as high for me as The Lady and the Tramp.

You probably won't have to:

Here is the probable worst case:
2005: Bambi Spring
Cinderella Fall
2006: Lady and the Tramp Spring
The Little Mermaid? Fall
2007: 101 Dalmations? Spring
The Jungle Book? Fall
2008: Pinocchio? Spring
Peter Pan? Fall
2009: Sleeping Beauty? Spring
Fantasia? Fall
Some Rumours have Fantasia 2000 coming out as a Platinum or with the Fantasia Platinum.
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

I really don't care if Lady and the Tramp come out before The Little Mermaid I prefer to watch The Little Mermaid during Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Disney is putting the more popular Disney Animated films that are going to be Platinum in October to boost up the sales.

Well, you could buy "The Little Mermaid" in March and watch it in November or December. :D
