Pirates of the Caribbean 2 Title & Plot Announced

Post by Jack »

Dick Cook announced it at the shareholder's meeting on Monday . . .

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

His summary: "This time around, Johnny returns as Captain Jack Sparrow and is caught in yet another tangled web of supernatural intrigue. It turns out, Captain Jack owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, ruler of the ocean depths and captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. If Jack can't figure a crafty way out of this one, he'll be cursed to an afterlife of eternal servitude and damnation. And as if that weren't enough, Captain Jack's problems throw a huge wrench into the wedding plans of the blissful Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann, who quickly find themselves thrust into Jack's misadventures."

He also added that Pirates 3 will arrive in Summer 2007.

Click here to listen to the meeting. The Studio Presentation is the one featuring the upcoming movies (inlcuding talk about Chicken Little and Narnia).

*crosses fingers and hopes for the best*

The first POTC is my absolute favorite live-action Disney movie. I hope the next two are as interesting.

Oh this is cool news. :) I found Pirates of the Caribbean to be the most entertaining movie I saw in theatres in 2003. I hope it's as good and does really well... but I'm sure it'll do well. :)

I found the first POTC to be overrated. I hadnt seen the film in theatres but recently bought the 2-disc set w/ the bonus lost disc due to the overwhelming reviews its gotten and found it to be nothing more than the average popcorn entertainment flick. It was fun, and I imagine its the type of films thats way more exciting to see in theatres with a crowd, but I dont know what was so special about it? I guess it might just be that most studio blockbusters these days are such trash... I like the movie, I'd see part II in theatres... but I dont think its as deserving of the critical acclaim its been receiving.

Can't say that I'm looking forward to this. At all. I love Johnny Depp, but I didn't really care for the first one. Doubtin' I'll care for the second.

IMO, Johnny Depp helped create such a memorable character and the whole movie struck a chord with me. I think it stood out because it was so different than the average movie fare.

But to each his own, right? I cannot wait for the sequel!

Oh, and the Flying Dutchman is an old legend about a ghost ship. Of course, the only reason I know that is because of the Uncle Scrooge comics, LOL!

I was pleasently surprised by POTC so I'm looking forward to this.

More Orlando Bloom!

I swear, Orlando Bloom could play all the characters in a telephone book and I would watch it.

Film row over Pirates 'cannibals'

Plans to portray Dominica's Carib Indians as cannibals in the sequel to hit film Pirates of the Caribbean have been criticised by the group's chief.

Carib Chief Charles Williams said talks with Disney's producers revealed there was "a strong element of cannibalism in the script which cannot be removed".
