Do you buy a Disney movie for the sake of owning it because it's a Disney
movie or do you buy it because you want to own the movie.

I buy Disney movies because I want to own and watch them (usually over and
over and over and over.... and over again).

I'm much too broke a college student to buy a Disney DVD just for the sake of
having it.

Hi:

In my case because I liked it. if I doesn´t, why would I botter on spending my
cash on it?

Hi:

Maybe a summer-vacations work or an internet business would help, it helped me
to buy a lots of DVD and a brand new TV :D

I purchase movies which I enjoyed in the theatre. I own several DVDs, but many
of them I received as gifts. I have only purchased around 3 Disney DVDs in the
past year or so.

I only buy those movies that I really like or have great memories of. Being a
University student, I don't have a lot of money to throw around.

Well, so far I've bought only the ones I really want. Someday though, I aim to
complete my collection. For now I only buy what I enjoy...

Mostly because I want the movie. Bambi is almost for the sake of owning so
that I can complete my collection of animated classics & Platinums some day,
though I do look forward to some of the bonus features.

As I'm on a tight budget being a student, I think that I'll only be
buying/keeping stuff if I like it. That rule applies to Disney, too. Yep, so
a copy of Treasure Planet won't be going on my DVD shelf.

How true it is, my friend! It tends to hamper my Disney DVD habit, do I
pay for entertainment or education? It's so hard to choose!!!

A bit of both, I only have SEs though. I don't have Dinosaur or Atlantis
becasue I have no interest in them whatsoever. I am debating wheter I should
get Pocahontas or not, I want to keep my collection up to date but the movie
wasn't exactly a 5\5 for me.

Seeing that I am a Teenager, who has a lot of expenses. I only buy movies
because I want them, and like to watch them. I can't afford to buy things
just for the sake of owning them lol.

Well, I just buy the Disney DVD's so I could watch them over and over again
instead of waiting to what it on television.

I'd have to say both reasons as well. I hope to own all of the animated
classics soon, which means I've bought some movies that I'm not that crazy
about (The Rescuers, Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone, etc.), yet I enjoy even
these movies on some level. For the most part though, I'm really fond of the
Disney movies in my collection.

Doesn't have to be ithat bad.

You actually get to enjoy things about this like:

- having to save money for just the right things
-or spending money you needed into something you just wanted and then have to
figure out how to find it again
- or if you want to go somewhere with your friends having to ask them all to
lend or give you money for the gas or theater entrance

...these things are the ones that you remind later and have fun with these
memories because of the good (or hard) moments

I buy movies that either:

A: I remember enjoying as a kid.
...or...
B: I have a good feeling about

I buy them because I want them. Usually I've seen the movie before and I liked
it so I get the DVD. If I haven't seen the movie before, I usually have enough
faith in Disney and have done enought research to know I'm going to like it,
like I've done with Treasure Planet, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast,
and like I will do with Bambi and Cinderella.

If I don't like a movie, or have reason to believe I won't like it, I won't
bother. For example, I didn't like Atlantis, so I'm not going to get the DVD.
And from what I hear about certain sequels, I don't get those either.

Sadly enough, I usually buy DVDs for the trill of getting them and adding them
to my collection. I know its sad, but I cant live without completing a
collection. That's probly why my family has money problems....... too many
Dvds.....

Wait what am I saying.... noone can have too many DVDs!!!!!

, ummm normally I buy them for enjoyment, and as Key said to watch over and over again. For example: I didn't buy Finding Nemo to be the coolest kid on the block, but because I love the movie :D

Disney movies have always been part of my life, they´ve been present in my house, my parents started the collection first on beta, then on vhs and now I´m continuing it with dvds, I´m not a parent yet but I kinda want to transmit that beautiful tradition to my kids...

Obvously there are Disney movies I like better than others, but I love all of them so, it´s not just a "buy for buying"

I normally buy dvd's that I really like and would want to watch over again. But I want the whole animated classics collection on dvd so I'm buying all of them even if I'm not crazy about the movie or I've never seen it.

I buy Disney movies for the sake of watching them. I'm like the enigizer bunny, I keep watching them and watching them and watching them...... Most of the Disney movies I own are ones I saw in the theaters (with a few blind buys) or ones I've seen growing up. Yup life as a college student=life of poverty. The only money I get (until I can find a job somewhere) is the 25 dollars I get a week from my mom for gas, lunch at school and any entertainment that I want for that week. It usually goes towards a DVD. Preferably Disney.

Nope. I buy them because I like em. I've been waiting nearly 15 years to have Nausicaa on DVD, and in just a very few days it'll be mine. I could care less for the direct to video stuff Disney's churning out at the moment, and when they get inventive again, it'll be great.

I never bought movies before the DVD format.

It's also hard not to try and complete a Disney animated collection.

There's a difference between Disney animated classics and regular movies.

We have 44 Disney movies so far. That makes the whole collection. While obviously regular movies just keep coming. Also with Disney we have the "pressure" of getting their movies because they become OOP, are replaced or get hard to find. Because of this, the meaning of collection makes that much sense.

In my case I'm not interested in all of them since I don't like them all. But I do buy aside of the movies I like some that I don't watch that often just because they're good.

I asked for Brother Bear as an "Easter" Gift (since I'm too old for the Easter Bunny, I asked my dad to buy me that dvd last year) despite the fact I didn't see it in the theatre. And then I found out the bears they used to model Koda and Kenai (?) after were these bears they had at this bear show at my state fair last fall. Sort of makes the movie more special now.

I got Fantasia last year because it was "going back into the vault". Some movies I get because I lost my taped copy or just want a backup dvd of the movie. Or just want a dvd version even if I have the video tape (like Parent Trap, Bugs Life) but the A Bugs life dvd came with my Pixar 15th anniversary dvd set.

So, I buy some for sentimental. Some for extra movies to entertain my nieces (I got alice in wonderland two weeks ago and took it over to my brother's house and my 3 year old niece and I watched it.)

I have never seen Aladdin and It was on SALE the day after thanksgiving so I got that.

oops, sorry for the long post!

I buy Disney movies to watch AND to collect (even though I am 21 years old....I guess I am just a kid at heart). I guess I agree with a lot of the other people on this forum...money is just too scarce to buy them just to collect. :)

I buy Disney because I love them so much and have a complete collection on VHS and want to duplicate that on DVD. Plus with seven granchildren I need to have them to share with them my childhood memories. My grandkids think their grandpa is silly!

I Love Disney, what else can I say.

I buy them because I love the movies. I have almost all Disney on VHS, but, I am trying to upgrade to DVD because how much they are restored, and because I love the movies so much (the VHS tapes I have, are wearing out) :)

I can totally relate to that. I was eleven when I got my first Disney pre-record on VHS (the technology was still relatively new back then) and I've gradually replaced my collection of them with those sparkly DVD's, LOL.

It's also something I wanna pass down to my kids whenever I have them! I have wonderful Disney memories with my family so it's only natural that I want tradition to continue. :)

I also love the Disney movies, well, at least the animated ones (I love some of the live-action too but not all) and I'm compelled to own them all. But that's because I like having them to watch and not just for the sake of having them.

I buy them if i like them and to enjoy watching them. I don't buy movies just for the heck of it that would be pretty dumb because i'd rather waste my money on things that i'd actually want and like instead of wasting it on Disney movies I don't even like that much or at all.

There are soooo many Disney animated and live action films I do not own and never will. If I HAD to have them all just for the sake of having them I'd be in a world of hurt, both space-wise and financially. So, as much as I do love just about anything Disney I def purchase only those that are "near-and-dear" to my heart...or my 4 year-old's :D
