The smilies aren't showing up on my browser. That's a minor problem though. Everything else seems to be ok.

I just want to say thanks, too, to those who fixed the boards. I missed it all since I was at work. I checked my emails a moment ago and saw the strange "Forum Is Closing" messages and started to wonder what was happening. Anyway, nice to find out that the problem has already been resoloved right after receiving those emails.

The "you dooshbags" part pretty much gave it away that it was a hacker, though.

Sorry, they merged two similair threads together. My Patriots comment was supposed to be aimed at SofaKing who was wondering who sent out those bogus e-mails. At the time, the Patriots were losing...of course now they're winning. Either way, I'm not a big football fan. =P

This was a thread that was made during the midst of saving posts on the Feedback forum (and it could be used by everybody, including deleted members). It isn't too relevant now, but might be fun to look back on for history's sake, since this was the 9/11 of UD.

At the same time, I would encourage people to make copies of all posts that have been made since last night, the time of the last backup. Copy them into Notepad or something. We won't be losing so many threads, like last time. But we have advance warning of an upcoming restore.

You probably already know this by now, but the forum was hacked about 3 hours ago today. I'd like to apologize for the juvenile e-mails that appeared to be sent by me. They weren't, and if you check the headers you can confirm that.

This act has wreaked a bit of havoc on the forum. Tinkering with the word censor settings turned much of the basic English language into profanity. That has since been reversed. The forum for troublesome posts/posters became the only visible one. This has since been corrected.

A few unlucky users have been deleted. That doesn't appear to be reversible as far as I know.

The good news is I have a recent backup, which I'm hoping can set us back about a day or so and bring back all the missing users.

The plan is to do this database restoration in a little bit. But that will make all of today's posts disappear. This time, we'll have advance warning. So if you could help out by making Notepad documents of losts posts or threads, that'd be great. Now is the time to do that.

I'd hope to have everything restored by tonight, but we'll have to wait and see, really. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

One thing I noticed though, was that the banned user "tangela" was here back in the forum talking trash about the forum. Not accusing anyone, but isn't a bit weird that tangela was back?
