The IMAX experience

Post by deathie mouse »

There were a few more posts in this thread about the Disney IMAX releases, including the topic creator's . Hopefully he and the others will repost their IMAX experiences. I separated mine from the quoted. It's in its proper order too :P

But as for now, we start with Cousin Mickey :D :

The Lion King on IMAX was fantastic. I hadn't seen the film for a few years, and never on anything but VHS before. It was already one of my favorites, but seeing it, hearing it, feeling it with everything amplified for the format was an amazing experience and one I'll never forget.

I saw all three, as well as Star Wars II, and, yes, it was absolutely worth it.

In The Lion King, you'd better have had something to hold on to because when the wildebeast stampede came rushing at Simba, I kid you not, the ENTIRE THEATER SHOOK. It was absolutely colossal.

With Fantasia 2000, it was just amazing hearing all of the classical music in uncompressed 6.1 digital surround sound, and the visiuals were wow too. Especially the Firebird Suiete and Pines of Rome with the whales.

Beauty and the Beast was a special treat because I'd never seen it in a theater before, and it was wow. The ballroom scene with the chandelier....ohhhh, wow. Just wow. And seeing the great Human Again number finally in its proper place in the finished film was bittersweetly wonderful. I never watch the movie without it anymore.

I saw Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, Matrix, Star Wars Episode II and that Ghosts of the Deep on IMAX and yeah, they were all worth it. It's an amazing film format. I saw Star Wars on an IMAX screen in New York City, near Lincoln Center I believe and the screen was huge, it was def worth the trip.

I wouldnt count on it! Maybe someday Disney will release some of the classics in IMAX. Or who knows, maybe all of the classics in a row. Something like that would be so great! It's a shame I live in Finland and there's long way for me to see any IMAX-film.

Prince Adam's sighting

Post by deathie mouse »

Now, this next post quote is special. It was this post that generated the topic reply that alerted me that something "smelly" was going on in UD. The topic title had changed. And not for the better. So this post is part on the chain of events that made several members of the UD community work together to restore what was a totally attacked forum where 100,000+ posts were affected or damaged with several members deleted, and be restored back into working order in less than 2 hours. Prince Adam was wondering why the topic didn't make "sense". You didn't miss anything Prince Adam, you sighted it :D. Talk about an IMAX experience ;)

"Beauty and the Beast" is the most flawed Disney film of the 90's as far as animation goes. Don't get me wrong, the animation of the film is wonderful, but there are some scenes in which the tight budget shows up, like the scenes in Belle's village or sometimes when the characters look off-model. Considering these flaws are quite obvious on the DVD, I wonder how bad they looked in IMAX.
