College student, majoring in Graphic Arts. But my current career is washing cars and mowing lawns in my neighborhood - take that, you high class businessmen!

Well....right now I'm homeschooled, but will be in school this year. I'll go into the 8th grade (hopefully).

I'm an artist seeking to become better at art and I'm TRYING to get a job to where I can just draw all day. Pretty stupid, I know. :(

This thread was bumped shortly after the time that we re-booted. The reboot went back 10 hours or so further than what I had backed up, I beleive, but here is what was saved. Sorry to those whose posts weren't saved, but feel free to remake them!

I'm currently a student studying for my A-Levels and in 2006, I shall finally finish school and go to university. I have no idea what I want to study at university.

Oh, and on Friday evenings, I work in a restaurant, althought I'm thinking of quitting.

For the last half-year, I've worked for Disney/Buena Vista Home Entertainment. As of this month, I'm taking a hiatus from the job (not officially quitting, just not actively doing anything for them until my schedule is a little more condusive). I'm also looking at taking up a little on-campus side-job at one of the dorm offices or something like that.

The short-term future? Well I'll be studying abroad in Europe for a month this summer. Then, sometime before I graduate, I'm going to work at Disney World (and take classes) through the College Program. I just have to figure out which semester works the best. My school's a little shady on accepting transfer credit from the program so I'm also looking into making that work (it can be done, it's just complicated).

Slightly more long-term: I'm majoring in Communications now (and I'm thinking that's where I'll stay), but also taking a healthy dose of other subjects, including French. After I graduate I'm either going to law school or going to grad school, possibly for a doctorate? I think I'd like to be a professor and pursue writing and business investments on the side will possibly continuing something with Disney. We'll see where that goes. Law and politics are also possible avenues at this point. Much to decide, and in such little time, but much of it just unfolds as it goes.

Sorry, didn't mean to turn this into a future career / tentative life plan thread.

Finishing college: publicity.

Starting Tuesday I'll be doing an internship as a prduction assistant in a TV program.

If things work out well (as I hope they will) , I'll be staying there working for some months until I save some money and move to Spain.

Currently a college student (very broke one--much like the rest of you ) who's going to be an uber-full time student in less than 2 weeks time, for spring semester. I'm trying to take all my required classes so that I can go into nursing and get all my degrees in order to become an RN (and maybe an MSN if I put enough work into it). I reaaaally dislike biology and chemistry so I'm not having too much fun trying to get into it.

Also currently trying to find a part time job at the Glendale Galleria... although I can't figure out how to do my schedule so I'm not out somewhere working my arse off 24 hours a day 7 days a week. v.v

That child is cuuute. I remember when I first came to these forums he was about 6 months old on the little caterpillar meter of yours. Now he's over 8 months. :o

Don't they just grow up too fast.

How are the hours and the pay? But seriously, do you get a vacation or break? Taking care of kids must be exhausting and hard work.

I don't know why I keep thinking you are a now father. I'm confused.

I'm a college student with no job. I want to get a degree in the management of computer science. Maybe I'll get a job at a help desk. My mom doesn't want me to go into sales or retail. I would like to work at Radio Shack or a T-Mobile store.

I was an office worker until 1997, when I had to make a career change and became a carer for my mother (who I still look after today)

I'm pretty much in the same situation as you. Being a college student with no job and all. ;lol: Hopefully that'll change soon and I'll get a job at the mall (trying to snag one at the Disney Store in the Galleria). I want the mall discount perks (among its other perks...)! <3

You guys make me feel like an old man. I finished my second master's degree 10 years ago. I just turned 40.

I'm a systems administrator. Before that, I was a library director. I have been a Disney fan since the mid 80's when my bother was accepted to Disney's Cal Arts, and got his degree in character animation.

The hours are long, the pay, although not in money, is great. I love watching him grow up! He is just now starting to recognize Winnie the Pooh, so we have been watching our Pooh DVD quite a bit recently. I'm enjoying the calm before the storm though. He hasn't learned how to crawl yet, but that is coming soon and then I will be on my toes more than ever before.

Just remember that cat in catNC stands for Catherine. I'm a girl, therefore I'm a mother

Sounds interesting. It's not related to Geico or Aflac is it? Just kidding.

I appreciate doctors because they help me with my heart condition. The cardioloists prescribe medicine and write referrals for MRAs. *looks for earplugs*
Cinderelly wrote:I am also a college student. My original plans were to go to medical school and specialize in OB/GYN. However, since my mother was diagnosed with cancer I have been motivated and determined to work in the field. Right now, I am looking at potential graduate schools for my PH.D.. I want to specialize in a combination of cancer biology and genetics.

I know, I know, not very exciting. Hey, someone's got to do it! :)
Cinderelly, the world needs more doctors and nurses. I hope you can be an OB/GYN or a health professional that you like. The nurses at my hospital are so nice and care about me. Two of my classmates took nursing courses.

Funny thing is that I'm reading about OB/GYN.

The nursing field sounds exciting. You get to play with thermometers, EKGs, x-ray films and large MRI machines. Those MRI machines are noisy. Medical Biology ssounds interesting. I too am reading about anatomy and psychology for my story. I'm trying to make my story realistic.

Wow, you are already looking for a Ph.D? That's awsome. :)

Good luck finding a job! I hope you find something you like be it at the Disney Store or somewhere else. That job sounds like fun.

I thought cat had to do with felines. Hehe. I want to watch him grow up too. Soon he'll be walking and eating solid foods. Keep an eye on him so he doesn't hurt himself. I don't know anything about parenting. Maybe you can give him a stuffed animal from Aladdin or Pocahontas movie to go with the Pooh toys.

Paka wrote:My dad's a doctor, too. Family physician - the "jack-of-all-trades" of the medical profession. And me mum's an RN, so we're just a hardcore medical family all around. :D

Who knows, though - I might find something cool in the next few years... Here's hopin', anyway.

Hey Paka, it's cool that your parents are in the medical field too. I hope you find a job soon. :) Good luck. I hope you enjoy working at JCPenneys.

The nursing jobs sound like hard work, but the are really rewarding.

Think of all the people nurses and doctors are helping and the lives they are saving. :) I love doctors and nurses.

I listen to the paramedics and fire fighters with my radio. They do a wonderful job resuing and saving people every day. My hats are off to the brave men and women who work tirelessly all day and all year in dangerous conditions and weather.

I envy you. You have two aster's degree. I don't even have an associates or a bachelor's degree. Hah, I'm a bachelor with no degree. Ok, that was a bad joke. Speaking about libraries, I went to the Library of Congress. It's huge! It's nice that your brother was accepted to Disney's Cal Arts. I know of Tracey Lee who drew Nala and Sarafina.

Librarians have a cool job helping people find books. They are so knowlegable.

I gotta run and go to class.

I'll talk to everyone later.
