Any difference between Canadian/US "A Bug's Life"

Post by svenge »

Are there any differences (language tracks, omission of features, etc.) between the Canadian Bug's Life 2003 CE release and its US counterpart?

Probably not. Unfortunately, I won't have access to my copy until later today, so I can't list what's on it until then. However, there wouldn't be any bonus content missing, as the U.S. and Canada usually get the same DVDs of everything, with very few exceptions (Canada seems to have a better "Triplets of Belleville" DVD, though.

Sometimes a french audio track will be put on a Canadian DVD release if the American one didn't have it already.

Those two are close enough; as both the U.S. and Canada saw releases of both CE editions ('99 and '03 versions). The only difference between the releases seems to be that Canada has a Dolby 5.1 French language track.

Well, I do know that Disney *absolutely* *has* to print that annoying "Version Francaise Incluse" on the box instead of putting a sticker on the shrinkwrap...

That's why I never buy Canadian versions, with exception to the Treasures Series. The only difference with those are the Canadian flag, rating, and spelling on the back of the box (or cardboard on the last wave).

That's the exactly the same complaint I've expressed many times. I don't like that little blob on the front but I don't mind the French on the back at all. I still prefer my Canadian versions cause I like our rating logo better. (well that's only a small reason) :P

As for DVDs... at times the Canadian ones are different from the US versions but I can't think of any Disney DVDs that are different. Some include Zatoichi which is released by Seville in Canada and the Ginger Snaps movies.

Yeah, the US Release of Ginger Snaps was Hack and Slash here in the States. (Grr...)

Oh, and Brotherhood of the Wolf had a 3 Disc release in Canada.
