Question about the Donald Duck Cartoon Bee at the Beach ?

Post by Flower's Friend »

If this has been talked about before I don't know and there is no search box that I could see. Anyways on the Donald Duck Dvd the Classic Cartoon Favorites - Starring Donald , on the cartoon short Bee at the Beach why is it that the starting credits seem to have been cut off and after the cartoon there where no credits ?

I saw the review on this website that talked about it being odd that the opening credits looked to be kinda cut, but nothing about there being no end credits. Its not too big of a deal really seeing as how I get all the Walt Disney Treasures so I will have all the Donald Duck cartoons anyway, but I guess I was just curious.

In case you are wondering why I got this Dvd since I get all the Treasures I guess it's because I love Donald Duck so much ( I like him better then Goofey and Mickey but I still love both of them ) I wanted to collect it ? :( lol , that is sad I know but its just me :D Well an advantage is when I am tired and want to watch Donald Duck Cartoons and don't feel going up to my closet and getting out my Treasure of Donald that I stored ( I keep all my Treasures in a safe place and handle them like Gold ) and being so careful with it I will always have these backup Dvds out and ready to just pop in quick lol :) Or when my sister's child turns 3 and if he really gets into Donald Duck ( since I will keep the Treasures , one day I could just give him all the other Donald Dvd's, assuming they keep making these ? lol )

I can't really tell why, but I can say that this has been done quite frequently on Disney shorts videos over the years - and also on TV. Maybe there's a connection.

I consider a short without credits incomplete - another reason why I won't buy the DVD in question.

I think they kind of got lazy with those releases. If a short wasn't in the Treasures line before that point they just ddn't put the time into restoring them.

I'm hoping to see that short fully restored for a future Donald Duck treasure dvd.

Flower's Friend you can find a search box when you click the search link that's around the top of the page.

About why discs come out with cut or edited or wrong transfer versions there may be many reasons that could include time is money, carelessnes, lazyness, human error, and just plain Sentient Evil!

But seriously, probably was the existing master of an existing print :P (and/or was the way the program was originally assembled/designed.)

I'll tell a unrelated/related :P story (courtesy of S.H.) about strange stuff that can happen behind the scenes :P

The Beatles in England originally released the Magical Mistery Tour movie songs in 2 EPs. That same year they had also released 3 non album 45RPM singles. Those EMI vinyl thinguies were all mastered from the original First Generation tapes. Now, they did copies (2nd generation) of those separate EP and singles tapes and sent them to the US where Capitol yet again made copies (3rd generation) to assemble a master reel for cutting the US-only Magical Mystery Tour LP. Now, a few years later EMI UK wanted to release all those separate EP and singles songs in a single LP too. Did they just assemble the 1rst generation tapes they had sitting on the shelves right there in front of them? No!, they asked Capitol for a COPY (4th generation) of their tape to be shipped back to England! Sooo instead of having an LP made of the real tapes, they had a LP made of a dub of a dub of a dub of the tapes they had in the next shelf. :p

You wanna a sadder story? :P When a few years later an Audiophile company in the US wanted to make a super duper LP version of the album they requested the Original Master tapes, and guess what they got sent all the way from England, and used? That dub of a dub of a dub of the original tapes cus that was the LP "master". It woulda been better they had gone next door to Capitol and asked for the earlier tape it was made from!!

Hope this explains the unexplainable.
