Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)

Yeah, now I see it. I tried to search with the words "Percy Jackson Disney" but didn't get any hits then. Which I do now, for some reason.

Re: Disney Plus (Streaming Service)

Has it been mentioned that Disney+ will adapt the Percy Jackson books into a TV-show?

Don't worry, I wasn't hurt. It's just that I prefer to discuss instead of arguing, and to avert a negative tone, or what can be interpret as it.

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

One of Disney's creative liberties, I guess. And I know perfectly well what is meant by the different ways to reference a century. Which also opens up for the possibilities that the author of a comment or article are mixing them. But whatever. Despite less activity I like this discussion board becau...

Re: Billboard's Top Disney Songs

I haven't seen Encanto yet, but so far I have heard two songs. The first one I don't remember, but it's possible it was the first song since the whole family is presented. Can't say it was my cup of tea.
The other song is Surface Pressure, which was pretty catchy.

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

I assumed it was some local prince, not the prince of the entire France. If he was, it would be weird if he lived in a castle which was located in the forest close to a village. It's as if the white house should be located in an isolated area in rural America. Personally I wouldn't call it a fantasy...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

You welcome. As mentioned, it's just my assumption, but it is the first difference that comes to mind. There was a little thread about the prince's laughter on Youtube. Once you pay attention to it, it is hard not to notice it next time. But if you're deep into the movie you're probably taking all o...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

The fact that the whole village seems to have forgotten about the castle is what I consider to be the fairytale elements. I would say Norway is close enough, even if no specific location is mentioned. And yeah, that's what I'm saying regarding Disney today versus before. As for the best way to descr...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

I don't see the Eiffel Tower as a problem. That's just one of the surreal elements that sometimes shows up in a movie without meaning that much, especially through musical numbers (but not restricted to them). Like how Genie in Aladdin transform himself into a modern day reporter, Hercules has a mod...

Re: Lilo & Stitch (Live-Action)

The news are some months old, but it sounds like it is still in the making: The movie will be produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who worked on Aladdin and are also attached to the new Inspector Gadget reboot. Mike Van Waes is screenwriter on the project. The movie will also film in Hawaii. Sho...

Re: Beauty and the Beast Discussion

Not sure how historically correct the story is supposed to be, but it takes place somewhere between 1750 and 1800. Read somewhere it was most likely in the late 1700s. But the beast is actually a prince, and the French monarchy ended in 1792 due to the French revolution and all that. It can't have b...

Re: Bedknobs and Broomsticks 40th Anniversary

I saw this movie at the theater as a kid during one of its re-releases, and loved it. I have read some of the comments from the critics on Wikipedia from when the movie was fresh, and what many of them fail to understand is that it was made for children.

Re: Pixar's Soul

OK, I have now seen the movie. It's possible others have already mentioned it, but here is my impression; my favorite part was the birthplace of the souls and the Jerrys and Terry. But manually counting every soul in the afterlife day after day and year after year? That sounds like a horrible job. A...

Re: Merlin (Live-Action)

Ridley Scott did direct the Tom Cruise fantasy movie Legend in 1985, and even if it wasn't about a wizard, it did have plenty of magic. Maybe if he had been given a script that he liked.

Re: Skydance Animation

Possibly. Then again, there hasn't been any announcements that it will not be released that date either. But even if it is three months or so away, it is strange that we haven't seen or heard anything expect for the picture that was released a while ago.

Skydance Animation

Noticed that their first animated feature is just about a month away (February 18), and not even a teaser yet?

Considering we are talking about a new animation studio here, it should be interesting to see what they have to offer.

Read this super-long, amazing article!!! ‘We’ll Never Make That Kind of Movie Again’ http://www.vulture.com/article/an-oral-history-of-disney-the-emperors-new-groove.html Some parts I found interesting: David Spade: It was me and Owen Wilson. We were going to switch jobs. I was an emperor and he wa...

These are mostly nostalgia since I saw the majority of them on TV as a kid: The Water Babies The Secret of NIMH (saw it on video) Jack and the Beanstalk with Gene Kelly (I have only seen it once, so I have no idea what it would be like to see it today) The Humpbacked Horse Rudolph the Red-Nosed Rein...

Authors in public domain

It was recently public domain day, when new works and creators enters public domain around the world. In USA this has only been going on for three or four years after a 20 year break. In most of the world, the rule is life plus 70s years. It used to be 50 years in most Europeans countries, like it i...
