All the covers look so great that I can't decide which I like best. The sketchy BatB and Sleeping Beauty ones are beautiful in a delicate and old fashioned way, but I also love the first Pocahontas one because it's so colourful and energetic. I actually had an idea of using that Colors of the Wind p...

In the 90s when I became seriously involved with Disney my favourites were The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin and Pocahontas. You know, the best of 80s and 90s (although some might disagree with me about Pocahontas...). I still love those films and they're still in my t...

Hope there will be more contents than the old 2 disc collector's edition. Not that I complain about it, I just want to see MORE!! Now, now, Jeremy. Don't get too greedy... :D Since I missed out on the first CE I hope the contents will be fairly similar or at least as good as in the origin...

The screengrabs look beautiful. I love the fact that they've used inspirational sketches for the menus on disc 2. Can't wait to get my hands on the DVD!

On a good day:

animation
Mickey's ears
Walt's face
a sense of warmth and happiness

On a not so good day:

the ridiculous amounts of Winnie the Pooh merchandise
cheapquels
confusing DVD editions
etc. etc.

The films that I almost know by heart are Show White, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and Pocahontas. These are the ones that I've watched the most times out of all Disney films. With most of them it's the Finnish language version that I'm more familiar with or more ...

Here in Finland the release of Mulan: Special Edition has been totally overlooked. Mulan 2 has been advertised quite extensively, but there has been no or little mention of the original film, which really bugs me. No wonder it cannot get good sales numbers if no one knows about the release! Even whe...

Eww. Shouldn't the servants have been given a break? It was their master who needed the punishment. What did they ever do wrong? Perhaps some of them even had family outside the castle. Oh well, I guess fairy tales needn't be logical...

I've often thought about this. But the moving objects couldn't have all been servants (think about the amount of dancing china and silverware in Be Our Guest!) so perhaps some of them really were just pieces of furniture or cutlery, just enchanted.

Oh, I can't believe I forgot Don Bluth! Anastasias and the rest aside, The Secret of NIMH is a good piece of work. And Luke, if you liked Chicken Run you should definitely check out the Wallace&Gromit films. Pronto! Creature Comforts from the same team is a pretty nice experiment, too. Oscar win...

I know what you mean (although I like Don Rosa's work). In Finland it seems to be socially more acceptable for adults to like comics than animated films. And the only Disney related fanzine we have is dedicated almost entirely to comics. A shocking thought: perhaps there just aren't that many animat...

I'm a big fan of animation in general, but my favourite films are mostly Disney or Pixar. However, some of my favourites are by Aardman and Dreamworks. Yikes, should I confess to that on a Disney forum? I prefer 2D animation over CGI, but as Pixar have proved us, CGI can be great when the story is s...

This thread reminded me of an interesting word play, which has become a sort of a catch phrase for me (and maybe some fellow linguists):

Time flies like an arrow,
and fruit flies like a banana. :D

Does anything similar come to mind?

Wabbit Season! :D Duck season! I love all seasons in their turn, but autumn is probably the number one. After making an inventory of my Disney films I realised that the situation isn't as hopeless as I first thought. I'm missing quite a lot (on dvd), but I've no intention to buy everything just for the sake of collecting. As long as the VHS tapes are watchable... On the other hand, if money wasn't an issue I would probably get the best possible editions and even multiple releases of each classic. At the moment, ...

I didn't cast a vote since there wasn't a suitable option ( other ), but I wanted to give an answer anyway. If possible, I like to listen to the original language track. With Disney films it's obviously English, Japanese with animes, and so on. If the Finnish dub of an animated film is any good I us...
