Re: Downton Abbey
I watched the new movie last night. It was really good!!! A great ending if they decide never to tap into the Downton Abbey universe again.

Re: The Sound of Music coming to 4K in 2025
Watched the movie last night on the big screen. There are little moments I noticed for the first time even though I’ve watched this film a thousand times! Can’t wait to see it again before it leaves theaters. Who knows when it might be rereleased again.

Re: The Sound of Music coming to 4K in 2025
I hope you get to see it again! These classic movies are a joy to see on the big screen. I never know when they will be screened again, so I try to catch them when I can. I think I may have watched MARY POPPINS twice last year, and of course MY FAIR LADY, during their anniversary screenings!

Re: The Sound of Music coming to 4K in 2025
I'm curious if this will be a one-time thing in celebration of the upcoming 60th anniversary re-release, or if we'll see Sound Of Music pop up during TCM's 31 Nights of Oscars programming. I think it's cool that TCM is finally airing the film, but I also like the exclusivity of Sound of Music's TV ...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
She's too young to play Maria, she's more suited to play Liesl. A 24 year old will have a 16 year old stepdaughter. How old will Georg von Trapp be? The real Maria was 21 when she became a governess, and 22 when she married the Captain. The oldest von Trapp child, a son, was 16 years old when his f...

Not sure if it was mentioned before, but another Cinderella movie to add to the list is FIRST LOVE (1939). Very sweet movie!

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Regarding the reshoots: I think it has been said online, and I tend to agree, that the CGI dwarfs weren't there at the beginning and the bandits were actually supposed to be the "dwarfs" before the backlash. There are seven of them and all of them were useless, I think they had a larger r...

Re: The Sound of Music coming to 4K in 2025
tsom , what are your feelings on the 2010 restoration today? I remember back in the day we were all thrilled with the new details provided by HD, but over the years, I’ve read comments that say this restoration is too warm. For example, that Julie’s hair is almost red when it should be blonde. What...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I understand you are determined to hate this movie no matter what, but Beauty and the Beast did not invent group opening numbers. In that case, then “Belle” is a knockoff of “The Prince Is Giving A Ball” from 1957’s R&H’s Cinderella and “Welcome to the Kingdom of Once Upon a Time” from the Radio...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
You guys do realize that the international posters are created at Disney Studios in Burbank by the exact same people that created the domestic key art, right? They’re just appealing to different geographic and psychographic audiences, communities, and sensibilities.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
SW is saying that line to Dopey who can't speak or communicate his feelings to the other dwarfs, so she's teaching him that whistling is another way to sing what's in your heart. Similar to Prince Eric's song "One Step Closer" in TLM Broadway version.

Sneezy and Sleepy. Plus allergy season is coming up with spring fast approaching, which falls into the film's release window. It makes sense.Sotiris wrote: ↑Thu Feb 13, 2025 6:58 pm Tie-in commercial for an over-the-counter medication. Odd choice of a partnership on Disney's behalf.![]()

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I love the song! It’s a beautiful “I Want” number for Snow White, and Rachel is an amazing singer. Watching the scene, I am reminded how she was plucked out of high school to star in Spielberg’s West Side Story. Rags cannot hide her gentle grace. If the original SW was made today instead of the 1930...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
They're trying to one-up Mulan in the Girlboss aspect. Mulan: Loyal, Brave, True Snow White: Fearless, Fair, Brave, True Respectfully, it is not. It is literally this version's "Have Courage and Be Kind." Not everything has an agenda. Also, taking back the kingdom makes sense. If yo...

Re: Mary Poppins Discussion Thread
Watched the first part, but need to finish! I had no idea there was a TV show version of Mary Poppins in the 1950s!! That was new to me to be honest. I also didn’t know MGM had the rights to the book first. Yea I was suspicious of the interview with Julie Andrews wording. Disappointed it wasn’t new....
