Re: Shakespeare Plays That Could Have Been Adapted as Disney Animated Films

I agree that something like "Romeo & Juliet" exists almost more as an archetype than a specific story, which can make it difficult to classify. A lot of stories owe something to "Romeo & Juliet," including something like Pocahontas, but I think the closest Disney has real...

Re: Zootopia

Screenshot_24-12-2025_111621_www.hollywoodreporter.com.jpeg We can definitely guess why the film is enjoying renewed interest at this time, but I'm grateful it's getting another moment. It makes it easier for me to think that Disney did get another Fab 4 level hit during the last decade, and withou...

Re: Most anticipated Disney movie of 2025

1. ELIO 2. AVATAR - Fire and Ash 3. ZOOTOPIA 2 4. THUNDERBOLTS* 5. FANTASTIC 4 - First Steps 6. Lilo & Stitch 7. Snow White Top 4 were wins for me, 5&6 were kinda slim, and Snow White was ... a disaster. I haven't seen "Captain America" or "Tron." I guess this is as good ...

Re: Zootopia 2

Yeah, I considered this movie leagues about Moana 2 as well as Wish and Strange World. Next year's Hexed is going to be such a turning point for Disney Animation in determining whether we're in another "Dark Age" or whether they just had like a post-pandemic blip that worked itself out bef...

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)

I think anything hodgepodge about Zegler's performance was directly spawned from the film itself being confused and atonal. Gadot's performance was much more actively grating for me, but again, I think she was doing exactly what the film was asking her to do. And on a sidenote, I consider myself a f...

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians (TV Series)

New season's going pretty strong. I really enjoyed this week's episode. I stand by my observations that the show on the whole could use a larger budget, but I was really impressed with the Scylla/Charybdis encounter. And this was also capping off a very character-centric episode. I can see the tethe...

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2026

Rather selfish on their part, since that's the exact kind of movie that might just get kids back to the theaters. And I'm not even sure it's that financially sound. I might be curious enough to voyage to the theaters to check it out. But I aint adding another streaming service to my catalogue just f...

Gaston (Live Action)

These early reports suggest that this is separate from both the canned Disney+ series and 2017 film. (This article incorrectly cites the film as having been released in 1992). https://deadline.com/2025/12/disney-live-action-gaston-movie-1236648757/ Disney looks to be taking another one of its iconic...

Re: Aladdin Discussion

I'm listening to "Happy End in Agrabah" right now. I agree with what you say about zeroing in on the music without the dialogue or sound effects. Distilling the scene down to just the melody and visuals really brings the chemistry of the scene to the top. Do you do a lot of soundtracks out...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)

I'll admit, I'm pretty bearish on the idea of like teen pop celebrities, musicians, Disney Channel alumni getting the roles, and that's half of the names that have been floated for this film. But I'll also admit that this would have disqualified Mandy Moore from voicing Rapunzel in the first place, ...

Re: Percy Jackson and the Olympians (TV Series)

First episodes of the new season dropped tonight. I think I'm going to like this season. I felt like the first episode was a bit patchy, pacing-wise. I get the motivation behind us seeing Luke poison the tree, but it stumbles on too many other plot points. I also feel like the show tends to bump up ...

Those are some stunning covers, for sure. I was surprised to see some titles that were included (The Good Dinosaur, Bolt, etc.) while others (Peter Pan, The Jungle Book, etc.) were not.

Re: Power Rangers (Disney+ Series)

I'd forgotten David Yost had done that, but I also don't know if that precludes them trying again anyway. I'd also kinda got the idea that Amy Jo Johnson opted out of "Once and Always" because she wasn't satisfied with what they were offering. (And honestly, good for her. I'm pretty sure J...

Re: Power Rangers (Disney+ Series)

I guess I don't have like an insider's knowledge of this or anything, but I always kind of assumed a showrunner was in charge of like one show at a time, unless it was something like Joss Whedon serving as a consultant for "Angel" while still primarily working on "Buffy the Vampire Sl...

Re: Tangled (Live-Action)

I know Sadie Sink was on Broadway before ST. She was in Annie. So I'm assuming yes, she can sing. She wasn't my first thought, but I could absolutely live with it. Anyways, I'd be happy if it were true that ScarJo was actually not moving forward with the project. I've loved her in most everything I'...

She also has experience managing some of the company’s most delicate and important commercial and creative relationships, from the recent carriage dispute with YouTube TV to September’s benching and reinstatement of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Wasn't she also on the committee that pulled the plug?

Re: Oscar for Best Animated Feature 2025

I'd have to watch it again specifically looking for how the film tracks something like microaggressions and whatnot, but I can see how that might feel like a step down. One of my main notes for the film was actually that I don't think they used Gary enough. Even so, I still don't personally think th...
