But I again confront how the insistence to carry over the exact designs from the animated film is only doing more to expose the non-necessity of this remake.

Sounds like more of what I'd hoped from the Angelina Jolie film--a genuinely dark origin story befitting a proper villain. Ideally, not pandering to people who have never liked the animated film and never will, no matter how much you mutilate it.

My expectation was with Toy Story 5, which is just around the corner.
