I only liked Kit and Aladdin

Though I still cringed a little how stereotypical Kit was, Richard Madden still made him very charming

yeah that's the problem with children roles... it's not easy to find a talented kid, and since here the casting pool was restricted to only native hawaiians... Despite physically looking like Lilo the kid can't act like her. I wonder if Disney cheapened out or they didnt have time for acting classes...

other than Aladdin this is probably the disney live action where it's the most important to cast the male lead right

I wonder if the last live actions flopping would make successful actors and directors avoid disney live actions.

If they do it right this can be successful. The current generation of young adult women grew up with Tangled as their main contemporary romantic disney movie.

I'd rather look at who they cast as Ariel and Snow White, who are an eternity more removed to what they should look like than Nani and Jasmine.

And honestly, the only way to make good stuff is to let people who genuinely respect and love these stories to adapt them, instead of the corporate agenda driven bullshit.

So they went even further insulting the original tale with changing the origin of the name with the surviving winter bullshit. Just how far can you go with the insult?
