Re: disney time tv?

I just saw this old post. "Disney Time" was a BBC show, with these episodes aired on Christmas Day. They were not shown in the US. I think I have 3-4 of them. My favorite one was hosted by Tommy Steele, with the premise being he was in a Disney prop room and used items there to introduce c...

While I'm watching "Along the Oregon Trail" I pulled out the records for the two part TV airings. Part 1 used 45:59 of footage from the film, and part 2 used 46:47. That makes a total of 92:46. Since the original film was only 86 minutes, and since the TV versions didn't use the original t...

Two quick additions. 1) As an example of how the titles were reshot, on the Cinemascope print the film name shows as: "Westward Ho the Wagons!" while on the commercial VHS it's "Westward Ho the Wagons!" Note that neither of them have a comma in them, or an exclamation mark (many ...

I was lucky to get a VHS tape a collector made of his Cinemascope print. It's not a great transfer but it's the only one I've found so far. Right from the start you can see a difference, as the titles on the print are formatted for the wide screen aspect. The version on the commercial VHS was reshot...

Well, this is certainly an interesting example of how Disney has lost control of some of its film versions. I just finished watching the original Cinemascope theatrical release. It ran 86 minutes, which ties in with the British Film Board for the initial ratings, and for Disney's internal reference ...

"Watcher in the Woods" (1980) was quite a disaster. I was working at the Studio when it came out and the initial screenings had people demanding their money back. They pulled it from the theaters and show two more endings to try to salvage it. Total grosses were around $5 million. They had...

Good thought on the PAL-NTSC conversion, Merlin. That could well be it. I hear rumors the show may be released on DVD, but only the foreign theatrical version, not a fully restored one with the original three shows. Disney seems to have lost their interest in anything that requires them to work on t...

The Prince and the Pauper (Live-Action)

Another board I frequent has been chatting about the availability of the live action "The Price and the Pauper" through streaming video on Amazon and on a Disney site. That got us talking about what was cut from the original three part TV versions to create the foreign theatrical release, ...

Most of that info should be in the book. Some entries had to be edited for space but that was one of the shorter ones so most of it should have made it. I never compiled a list of where the source material used for the shows, so I don't have a ready list that tells where they used footage from the P...

Here's more information than you probably wanted to know about that episode. Sadly it, like so many of the other anthology episodes, remains locked away without any plans for a DVD release at this time. Chatting with Leonard this morning, he confirms the Treasures line is dead. I suggest that people do write to Disney, though, as decisions like that can always be reversed. My experiece is that paper mail gets more attention than e-mail...

I taped my sequence for the supplemental material on the Zorro sets today. I can't go into what extras will be on the sets yet, but I do think fans of Zorro will be happy. If there's something special you think should be there but may have been missed, please drop me a note. I won't be able to confi...

I watched this last night. The DVD has only the theatrical feature on it, no extras. For reasons unclear to me, it starts with the "Wonderful World of Disney" tv opening, then the menu pops up fpr the film. The options are pretty basic - select scenes, select language or play movie. The tr...

This was indeed the case - the show aired live in B&W, and was captured on film in a kinescope process. It would have been great in color but the series was still in B&W during that season. Bill Tony wrote: I am glad that Kodak '59 is on here, but had been anticpating that it would be in col...

I haven't read all of the posts in this thread but I did see that some folks are hoping for a featurette on Tinker Bell. I'm happy to say that is one of the things planned for the new edition. I taped a segment for that about three weeks ago. I won't ruin the surprises and go into details, but they ...
