Leno, Letterman, or Conan??
i was thinking for something to sort of brake the ice with you guys and was looking at old leno "HEADLINES"
and wonderd if you guys liked what your fav late night talk shows were.for me I dont mind Jimmy Kimmel,i kind of find Letterman sort of broing and i like conan more than jimmy but hands down it would be leno with his wit and extermily funny Highlights(ie.Stuff We Found On Ebay,HEADLINES,99 cents store ect ect). so whats your fav?

Conan, Conan, Conan!
Leno gets in a good joke now and then, and he has the kind of "everyman" appeal. But for the most part, it's so dumb that I wish the "everyman" would do something else for an hour and come back and watch Conan. There's the usual forced banter between him and Kevin Eubanks, his really bad "video jokes" (ooh look at this funny thing), and then the Jay-Walking thing which fails because it's so obvious the kids are trying to act stupid to get on Leno (why not? can't blame them).
Letterman would seem more promising, if he's kind of got the esoteric appeal. But I could never get into him.
On the other hand, Conan is a riot. I know humor is a subjective kind of thing, but the guy has to be really, really off to not have me laughing a lot. Some of the stuff that gets repeated (like "If They Mated") kind of loses its appeal after a while, but he's an awesome interviewer and the stuff that fills the hour aside from guests never fails to amuse.

Word Luke on the Conan love and the Leno hate! I love both Dave and Conan and TiVo them every night. However, I prefer Conan more and have been a fan since I was old enough to stay up that late. He is awesome. I remember being scared that the show wouldn't be as good once Andy ledt, but it hasn't suffered thoguh I do miss Andy. Now I'm worried that NBC is going to force Conan to be an "everyman" kind of show like Leno once he takes over the Tonight Show.

That's okay. Whenever you try to edit a post with a poll, it generally results in disaster. In the future, if you need a poll edited, you can make a note in your post or e-mail me. I would have to say that Jay Leno is way funnier then Conan O'Brien and David Letterman. I guess the reason is because I grew up watching Jay Leno.

I also voted for Conan but it didn't show.
Conan is easily the best host simply because he can handle himself without a script. Leno's opening monologues can be occassionally funny, but they just go on so long (as the focus of his show is him).
Letterman also takes way too much of the limelight, especially given that he isn't even remotely funny. He'll also run any decent jokes that do come his way into the ground through constant repetition.
Conan is spontaneously funny, pulls jokes completely out of left field, and doesn't mind admitting the jokes that don't work. "Oh, two laughs...I can work with that", "I don't need your pity.." etc.
Conan is a god.

Oh
Um. I rarely watch any of those guys, seeing my parents don't really like that sort of thing. But my favorite has to be Letterman. HIs jokes and cracks are so hilarious, I just laugh whenever I watch him. He Is So Funny!

Yar... dang phpBB polls...
The seemingly one lil' thing about phpBB boards that are a major pain... the polls.
Anyhoo, I'll merge these threads and hope that fixes it - I'm not about to sit by and watch mah Conan get "beaten" by an illusive poll!

Yay! It worked! *does the happy mod dance*
People will now be able to vote again, and it should work this time. Only thing is it looks like I created the thread, but whatevah.
By the way, welcome to the forum, Crick!

David Letterman - He just cracks me up
. I remember his first shows - he use to come on in the afternoon in the early 80's.

Tied at #1: Conan and Dave
#2: Leno
I still think Leno is fine but think Dave would've been better for the job and I'm really looking forward to seeing Conan take over the Tonight Show in 2009.

Why do they keep doing that? Kevin's a great guy and a good musician but not a good sidekick. There's the usual forced banter between him and Kevin Eubanks

*watches Paka dance
(for some unphantomable reason has visions of John Fogerty's "Zant Can't Dance" video for a moment
)
I used to like Letterman better than Carson, and now is Conan better than Letterman better than Leno. It's like the "second tier", the ones after the heavies, are more free more spontaneous more crazee. Hope Conan if and when he becomes the earlier hour "heavy" doesn't rust a little or becomes more conservative...
